Congrats to Mike on deciding! Where in DC?

My wife and I will be going down to DC on Friday; if you want us to
string bunting from the lampposts in prep for Mike's later arrival, let
us know.

Len and Michelle--I'm in the animation department and there is
actually quite a bit of beautiful artwork. I tend to respond to the
darker, more ghastly pictures, but I don't think kids like having
pictures of Lord Voldemort's HeadStump on their soccer shorts.

One cool thing are the Howlers they are trying to make for real. And
if they can really manufacture that cape that makes you invisible,
we're all in for a load of trouble...

Neil--glad to see that Mike is steering clear of the poo kingdom that
is UC.

Speaking of Cincinnati, the rioting is really getting on my nerves.
For those of you who haven't heard, a Cincinnati policeman shot and
killed an unarmed man who was wanted for 14 misdemeanor charges. So,
while he wasn't good as gold, I don't think he should have been dead.
The officer was white, and the man he killed was black. Unfortunately,
white officers killing black men for questionable reasons happens far
too often here. I was unhappy about all this, and not shocked to hear
that there was rioting when people's questions (mainly "why?") were not
getting answered.

But now people are being pulled out of their cars and beaten, and
someone I know got shot at. On top of all this, I am afraid to go to
school tomorrow now, and there is no chance I will get to go to the
Warehouse (my friendly local goth-y club.) No one messes with me and
the Warehouse. Whatever happened to peaceful protest?

On a lighter note...I was doing my online rounds tonight, including
fadetoblack.com (godisdead.com). It seems that they have a brand
spanking new interview with our friend Ouchy the Clown! He he. The
interview can be found at www.fadetoblack.com/sexorama

Enjoy!

Angelina (who loves dancing so much she might dance in her living room
if the riots go much longer.)

Angelina - Nothing wrong with dancing in your living room... just make
sure all the furniture is out of reach (oak tables can jump out in so
the wrong way!). Tho' it really is much more fun to swirl around in
fluffy skirts and corsets on a dancefloor, dodging the 'moving targets'
that like to call themselves club patrons, but really are just a
boot-stomping, leather-clad obstacle course in motion (and occasionally
on roller skates).

Neil - Congrats on Mike's finding a school! Getting nervous about his
leaving yet?

Len--I personally am no longer embarassed to admit that I love Mandy
Pantinkin's histrionics. I have a secret fancy to do a one-woman show
called "Man, Oh Mandy" in which I sing all his famous tunes in his
vocal style. My hubby seems to think it's pretty funny. As far as
Follies goes, I agree that during their moments of reminiscence that I
would want to see a beautiful, golden, shimmering memory of a past they
can't regain. I actually didn't realize this was not the Papermill
version. Either way I'm so sad I just moved from New York. I miss
every second of it. I worked for the show Rent so I had lot of access
to Experiences. *sigh*

Oh boy. Bronchitis that's quickly approaching Pnuemonia. Goodie.

(cough hack)

Jinx (re: #788) - About the whole purity thing... heheh... and yes, I
remember Denny's now. Also, thanks for pimping me to Adriana... hehe!

Adriana (re: #801) - I'm available for guiding, Neil Collectible
shopping, Schmoozing, and occasional DragonSlaying. Drop me a little
note at: devilbunny@wastingbandwidth.com if you want to hang.

re: Ramadan figure... well, due to being sick, I've had some free
time, and using some wood glue, quick-set super epoxy, a roto-zipped
decorative wood-base-thing and some luck... and Voila! I have a kinda
Ramadan-figure-statue thingy. Glued the cape to the base, the ball to
the hand (NBA Dream: 'Can you palm the ball? I can palm the ball!'),
Dream to the cape, and the whole thing to the base.

Looks ok. Dreamhunters Dream isn't doing much, but he's hanging with a
imitation Madarin Spawn figure and Ashitaka from Mononoke Hime.

re signings: For those of you in other areas, and if there's going to
be impromtu 'Hey, aren't you ___ from The Well?' meetings, I'm prolly
ending up at the SF, LA, and SD area signings.

Neil - Good to hear about Mike. DC is a nice area (at least, some
parts of it)...

Michelle - Squeakling Haiku for you:

Martha- You're awesome! I'm a little over halfway through the book.
It's wonderful. I'm sure you've heard this many times but: Great work!
And to my surprise your signature is in there too. Although my husband
thought it said Martr Snllk. I think my fave so far is 'The Big Wish'
but i love them all. Love em, love em.
TO anyone who has not yet purchased and read The Arbitrary Placement
of Walls by our one and only Martha Soukup: Get it now! Read it! If you
don't have money now...pawn something, beg on the streets...it's well
worth it. It's the best collection of stories I've read in a long time.
Seriously.

Angelina- yeah, it's all over the news here. I'm glad I'm up north.
People up here always complain about the cops down there, I don't think
the events surprised anyone. But I don't see why people think that
violence towards random people is going to solve anything. Strange,
strange world. I hope everything calms down soon. Be safe.

Hello Everyone at The Well! Don't mind me, I'm just lurking around!

Hi Neil- By chance your not coming anywhere near Memphis, TN are you?
Nashville? If not, and I miss you, you could always just fax me your
autograph and I can dut it out and paste it on to my copy of American
Gods... That's a joke! Hope to catch you somewhere though!

shipped out to other dealers--but if you want to insure the Martr Snllk
autograph, order directly from DreamHaven.

Way behind -- will catch up on topic.

I've done a Do's and Don'ts and helpful hints for signings, as
requested, and put it up at americangods.com -- let me know whether you
need any more or have any other questions, those who requested it.

Len -- I thought, when I saw the London production of Follies in
around 1988, that the fixes done to the songs -- Country House, Ah but
Underneath, etc, not having Ben's breakdown -- made it a much better
story, even if it was a twenty minute story told over several hours
with magical songs. Beautifully designed and an amazing cast (except
for poor Diana Rigg who could not really sing as well as the others).
It seemed to have a point, which was more than the original one did.

Tona -- i won't be coming to Memphis; Harper Collins are only sending
me to the places I've listed. BUT...

...I'm going to be signing a LOT of sheets of paper to be bound into
books, and your local bookstore should be able to order a signed book.

Urg! I just typed up this huge little (um, just go with me on this)
posty thing and then hit the wrong button and erased the whole damded
thing! Ack!

Um, Walker - Horrible mouse haiku. Dragons don't always need to be
slain. What kind of addy is DB supposed to use now? You still owe me a
Mouse of Pain "Squeak Around" remix. And (most importantly), glad to
see you up, even if drugged. Hope you feel much better very soon.

Martha - I also got lucky and got the last signed copy at OCoH a few
months ago, and if I didn't say it then, it is a wonderful little
collection! :)

Adriana-- You worked for Rent? Neat! What did you do? tell more!
And yeah, I do like Mandy too-- and my wife ADORES him. And if sing do
"And the Band Played in" make sure you do "Marie" too, cause that's my
favorite song in that medley-- Randy Newman rocks too.

Neil-- Yes-- I was incredibly disappointed that they didn't use the
new material, and I can't for the life of me imagine why--I'm surprised
that Sondheim even allowed them to do it.

Weird comic thing-- when I was watching Follies I was thinking of two
books-- Violent Cases and Arkham Asylum. Even though they don't have
an awful lot in common, they seem to meet thematically in Follies-- it
has VC's mixture of magic and memory, and AA's sense that the physical
space the characters are entering is really much bigger than they had
anticipated.

Violent Cases would make a hell of a theatre piece. (no, this is not a
hint.)

Neil--Thanks so much for the do's and dont's. I had only a vauge idea
of what it might be like, and that helped immensely. BTW, are you to
be taking planes to all your locations? It is going to be a tight
squeeze for me to get to Lexington and Dayton. I am thinking perhaps I
will just listen to your reading for the first, and then head off to
Dayton.

Martha--So much praise for your book, and from my kinda fans as well!
I really will have to check it out. That is, once my next paycheck
comes in. I spent all my money tonight. :(

What did I spend my money on, you ask? Well, it just so happens that
I got my labret pierced. It is my first (and most likely only) non-ear
piercing. I like it very much so far, but I think I smile a little
lopsided (at least I can tell. I doubt anyone else would notice unless
they were looking for it.)

However, the ride home was VERY scary...every route I knew to get home
was blocked off. I thought the rioting had cooled down, but it flared
up majorly again tonight. People were yelling things at the car, and
that's when I became worried. (Last night things were thrown into cars
through windows, and people pulled out and beaten.) I finaly found a
way home, thank goodness. I went an hour and a half out of my way.
Hrmm. I don't think I'll be leaving my pretty little suburb again
soon......

Angelina.
