<dwaite> - *sigh... maybe it's from growing up near it, but I
instantly thought "But the Kingdome was blown up lat year!" when I read
that...

Neil - But don't people pester you to write them into stories? Or is
that just when you write comics? As for England, I hope you have a
wonderful trip, but I think it says something about the place you live
in when you have to go to England for a nice spring. :) (typed as a
true Californian, non?) Then again, I've only ever been to England
during very unusual heat waves.

Don't fret, Jo. All of my friends seem to be going to Oz lately. Can't
wait 'til it's my turn!

As for fame and fortune... I used to want to do voice-overs so people
would never have to recognize me in public. (yeah, I know I model, I
don't get it either - and current pics are up at
www.girlswithglasses.com, while I'm being a self-promotion-whore)

Neil- Back in the DreamHunters discussion, I posted this in regards
to Genie archives.

<topic 73> Well, I wrote to someone at sfrt.com , and apparently the
Genie Topic archives had been preserved, but aren't available.
Copyright thing:

"In order to distribute the archives, we'd need written permission
from each person whose posts are included AND IDT's permission to
reproduce the formats." </topic 73>

I'm not sure why they addressed it as distribbution, but I directed my
email to sysop@sfrt.com. If you wanted to see the archives, I'm sure
an email from you or Lorraine would warrant a bit more attention then
mine did.

Len, fortunately, I have no goat.

Dan -- the introductory poem in martha's book works best if declaimed
in a bar.

Jo, yes, I miss the UK very much. The last time I got so homesick i
was ready to move home, I went back to the UK for a week, to discover
that in the previous month the UK tabloids had gone after one of my
best friends in a really nasty way, and had done what they could to
destroy the marriage of another set of good friends: they were being
trailed everywhere by reporters, who regarded their marriage as a
legitimate target because they were minor celebrities. Which was a
good thing, as it reminded me there were things I didn't like about the
UK too.

Michelle -- I don't think so, no. In the next book I write set in the
here and now I may auction off a cameo for the CBLDF ("Oh my god! That
poor woman locked in there with the rampaging Martian Jellyfish! It's
Michelle Montrose-Hyman!" screamed Our Heroine.) But I don't think
people do ask me to put them in books.

Sarah -- I'll drop them a line. Trouble is, I'll never actually get
round to reading them to extract any sensible things I said...

Angelina -- hope the meeting goes well for you.

...

A three line Journal Post turned into a first sketch for a huge essay
on blurbs, which I abandoned rather than finished, as I am too tired to
keep typing.

I've decided that I'll write the photo shoot one when they put up a
photo of me from the shoot on the site...

Hrm, just got more e-mail from churches in Massechusetts and New
Zealand about that drama... I think I just became an internationally
produced playwright.

This is apparantly easier to do when you give away your writing for
free.

Michelle - You've had friends going to Oz??? When is the next tram??
Sorry that you're having a hard time getting out more. I'd invite you
to hang with my gang of freaks, but we haven't been too successful in
getting together in groups lately.
As for love... I'll send you url's of some of my more anguished
anti-love poetry.

Sarah - Similar thing happened with Chumbawamba's Tubthumber CD, they
couldn't post all their quotes and background stuff in the CD book
because of copyright issues. They couldn't even quote graffitti tags
without the author's permission (good like finding them!). Thus, the US
version of the CD had a url to their website where it was all posted,
and the UK version had it all printed in the CD Book.

Angelina - congrats on the reunion!

Neil/Martha - Oh... now I have to find one of these stories to do in
the next C.A.F.E. show so that we can invite her to the performance and
then go out for drinks and declaim your poem loudly with beer in hand,
while standing on a table over her bewildered and fearful countenance.

Neil - It was suggested to me that I pry a copy of the videotape of
Troll Bridge from the Artistic Director's procrastinating fingers and
give it to you at the book signing... so we'll see how successful I am.
(I've been trying to get it from him for a year and a half now with no
success) We'll also see if it's worth the effort... I've yet to see a
taped stageplay that did anything other than suck... but hope springs
eternal, no?

Adriana - I used to want to be Kevin Spacey, but now he's got the
press after him. bugger it all...

Neil - The cameo appearance idea sounds kind of cool as a fundraiser.
Kind of reminds me when the X-Files used names from the internet fan
base to create an airplane 'seat list' in an episode (way back in
season 2, I think). And kudos on the Harlan blurb!

JaNell/Jen B. - I remember living in a place with seasons once. Then
there was Oregon (what day is summer?).

Adriana - Thank you. :)

Dan - Yeah, 3 of my friend have already been this year. Then Oz
friends are coming here. Then people from here are going there again. 4
different excursions to Oz in the next year, I think. And the problem
isn't so much getting out, it's that the places I generally enjoy going
to are inhabited by people I'm not in the right mood to see.

As for the Martha poem... if you'd like, James and I can do another
rendition of our 'night out at Death Guild' at one of the readings in
June; preferably with Martha nearby, to become appropriately embarrased
for us. :D

Heya, everyone.

Neil--WOW to the blurb story and congrats on the Harlan blurb! I am
way impressed. I want to read this book so much I hurt.

Re: seeing my dad--Things went pretty well. He used to be a not so
great guy, but I think he's changed a great deal. That's not to say
I'd like to see him all the time, but at least he's tolerable now.

BTW, it looks like I will most likely be making it to the NYC signing
along with my father. He hasn't read anything of yours, Neil, so I'd
better get him started.

Michelle--yay for catching another little guy. That takes talent.
My cat brought a mouse home for me as a prize yesterday, and I told
him gently not to do that anymore because I have a friend who wouldn't
like it. I hope he listens. It was unnerving.

Neil -- My guess is that Marty Grabien probably has a significant
portion of your GEnie topic in archives. I have about 25 megabytes

Neil-- Geoff Notkin's work is really beautiful! I emailed him a

Angelina - Good to hear things went well with your father. As for the
kitty, it's okay. It's what they do. When they are just abiding by
their nature, it's not a problem (unless they leave gooey body parts
where they can be stepped on!).

Dan - Yes. I'm *still* after the last one. I keep seeing it, but it's
slippery. And Oz is so much easier to type than A-U-S-T-R-A-L-I-A. The
Death Guild incident is simple. It involves the Martha poem, 2 glasses
of strong drink, and a recording device... in a loud club.

Len - I think you might be better hiring the Monty Python gang with
their 'confuse-a-cat' skit.

When I was in college, I decided that I had spent so much of my life playing
around with computers that I didn't want to be a programmer for a living.
So, I took the minimum Comp Sci courses, graduated with a degree in Math and
Philosophy, worked at a bookstore for a few years, then got a computer job
and have been working as a programmer ever since.

So no, I didn't always know what I was going to end up doing.

Hell, I'd still rather be doing music, but it's tougher to put food on the
table that way.

Michelle - sounds intriguing... People should do drunken poetry
readings more often...
I think I must host a party next month with that idea... it's been
suggested that we get together and read to each other... but strong
drink and poetry..... hmmmm

Mimi, Thanks!!

On destiny... I was firmly convinced that I knew what I was going to
do with my life. I had decided at the tender age of 16 that I was going
to go into the ministry and being an incredibly stubborn person,
persisted on that path for years. I got a B.A. in Biblical and
Theological Studies and got halfway through Seminary before everything
fell apart. That story is a long one and I won't go into it here (yes,
we have all leared that brevity isn't my strong point, but I
digress...) I was deeply depressed at the time and resigned to taking
any drone job that would take me and settling into a life of drudgery.
Fortunately, the placement agency I was working for noticed my computer
skills and my somewhat quirky disposition and matched me up with my
current organization, which I've been with for over five years now.
So, now I do presentations, Flash animation, coordinate web sites, and
spend a lot of time being the office freak. It's a far cry from were I
started, to say the least.
so... for me... a major life crisis thrust me from one path and onto a
radically different one. Had it not been for the perceptiveness of a
total stranger, it might have been a much sadder story.
