Linda - Stones in His Pockets. I liked the story, but I felt like having the two actors play all the parts indicated that the author had so little faith in the value of the story that she needed to bolster it with schtick and gimmick. I'd love to see it done with a cast of six... letting two actors play a handful of the really tiny roles each, but letting the principals be principals and not caricatures. I have the same complaint with many "one-person" shows, which tend to be more about showing off the virtuosity of the actors than serving the material. Paige - Welcome aboard! I've had a handful of Barking Mad (Gaiman-themed) events in the past, although they've been subsumed into more general get-togethers... but I hope you'll join the madman and the mouse and swing by some time. Maure - vibes your way... I hope all goes well in the end. Also, I have to agree with my namesake... I have no real inclination to run into Mr. Cruise either... although I don't despise him, either. I'm just kind of neutrally uninterested. All those who said "ooo" or "woo!" Thanks. I was really pleased with the show and am very glad that it was as successful as it was. Although we had more people show up drunk or stoned than to any other show, and a couple of times we had people walk out of Tick-a-licious (the second one-act that involved existentially inclined teletubby-like creatures) because they couldn't handle it in their altered states. All - Does anyone remember when Neil made his highly amusing comments about slash fiction on his blog? I tried to find it the other day and couldn't! I don't know if they've been removed or if I'm just missing something obvious.

DanW - The slashfic bits are probably in the early April posts that you couldn't get to as of two days ago (when I last checked - I don't know what the status is now). Maure - <<<hugs>>> I hope everything works out well! Mary - Dunno about anyone else, but the deaths that affect me tend to show up in waves. In the course of two years, many many people will die, then for the next two years, no one will. DanGuy - I think I could trip over Tom Cruise and I'd probably just apologize, look at him for a second, shake my head and walk away. I've just got nothing to say to most famous people. Paige - heheheh, I knew I could get you posting here. :) Now to enroll you in 'stalking 101'... We'll start by dragging you out to Dan's for the next Barking Mad night. Oh, and as was dropped into my inbox: http://www.colorworks.com/mixer.asp?UID=2002042914575865&GEN5= The internet is a wonderful place. If you surf around the site a bit, you can also do the whole voting for colors thing (purple, purple, purple) squeaks, who isn't hinting or anything.

oh everyone, not guilty, on all counts, not guilty. thank you everyone for your thoughts. 4 1/2 hours of deliberation, the jury said they were hung, the judge told them to get back in and make a decision, and they did. Not guilty!! I love everyone right now. I love you all!!

Great news, Maure. Woo! Welcome here, Paige. Hope your writing goes very well. Dan- Glad the show went well, and sold out. Erynn- hope your characters start speaking up again. I just had a block of marathon writing days to get a short story submitted to an anthology. Made the deadline by three hours, and now I get to sit and wait and see if they'll pick it up. On the plus side, though, that's *two* short stories out there, being looked at by really good publications, so that's always nice. I'm still subbing, and personal training, but I've a feeling I'm going to give up the latter 'fore long because I don't like the salesman aspect of the whole thing, and I don't like the quota hanging over my head. The deadline I didn't mind so much, but not a quota.

Hiya! If I still have voting rights, "These are not my Scary Trousers" has quite a ring. Resonance, even. Especially on a tee shirt. I missed the bit where it was decided who's doing the artwork and what it is? Jouni? Is it you? Just dropping in to share with all the (beginning) writers (Hi, Will! Congrats! And support *beams* to Erynn, etc.) and Will Shetterly and Emma Bull fans... a few quotes from their writing workshop I took last week. Virtual Tim Tams for the writer's soul. http://www.xanga.com/item.asp?user=Pamela_bird&tab=weblogs&uid=1507848 Best wishes to all.

Um, hi! Just a quick note--Neil--at the Expo this weekend, if you need anything travelly (mostly hotels, but feel free to ask her most stuff) the girl to watch for is Jennifer Kimball at the Travel Desk. I told her to come say "Hi!" if she sees you, but she'll probably be too shy. Anyway, she's way cool. Hope you have a great time! Mary ( who *finally* finished "A Star called Henry", and now wants to read all of Roddy Doyle, and is now reading "Dying For Action: The Life & Films of Jackie Chan" by Renee Witterstaetter)

heya! sorry I've been the Invisible Girl lately... I can go ahead and create a Cafepress shop for the scary trousers shirts (and the goldfish too, any anyone would like them), and I have a scanner if anyone else has scarier trousers, or other silly designs! I wanted to give folks a chance to get a bunch of designs and vote... If we do Cafepress, do we wanna says $2 from each shirt/hat/bag/whatever goes to the CBLDF? I think Cafepress sends out money quarterly, and the sales reports tell you how much you're up ro down. I can just turn around and donate the money--only problem is, I don't think that means we can write it off, without a reciept...

DUKE ACTION: A SCIENCE CAMP FOR YOUNG WOMEN "Duke, of all the weird ideas you've had of how to get vast amounts of nookie, this -has- to be the weirdest." "I'm only asking your opinion of the T-shirts." "All right, they look less ridiculous than you do in that lab coat. who once again, forgot why she checked on this group in the first place just now... Hey Neil - When do we find out where the first Coraline thingie is going to be held? (certain stalkers need to know when to request time off, and where it is they're driving to) Tara - A few bucks from each shirt sounds good to me. (even if I am likely to be rather broke soon) squeaks, who would like ebay better if it didn't keep sucking away her savings.

John-Mike- hahaha! Hi! Glad you're back. Just ordered a buttload of books from Powells, three of them John-Mike books: The Final Reflection, How Much for Just the Planet?, and the Last Hot Time. And they're all in stock! And Neeew! They confirmed it. (unlike Amazon, who still haven't sent my books after two months grumble, grumble) Will- Good luck:) I don't know what the hell is going on with my characters. They won't talk to me. They're acting like defiant teenagers. So I think I'll leave them be for now...maybe someday they'll grow up. With all the PBS I've been watching, suddenly I want to write about elephants and arthropods (I actually did just write a story about arthropods. Not a good one either) Then again, it's probably all my fault. I think I need to take a hammer to the TV like I did a few years ago....but then I missed movies. I dunno. Or I could get some self-motivation, or kick my Red Bull habit. Do you think there's a rehab program for Red Bull addicts? There should be. But I'm digressing again. I need to stop posting late at night (or early in the morning) Pam- Those are wonderful quotes. Thanks! Tara- Cool! Squeaks- I'm in the poorhouse again as well. But it's so much fun to click on the "add to cart" button and then go to a seemingly imaginary Checkout. And ebay...ooooh... I won some Faerie Tale Theater vhs things. I love those...and now I must collect them all! Muahahaha!

E-mail from Jouni: Pam -- Hi there, stranger! Nope, it's not me (doin' the art to the t-shirts, that is), but as I have mentioned IF someone wants me to do a picture of something (grumpy bat or Neil or goldfish or... dunno... anything) to the design, I'll be happy to help... And still about the shirts -- I think it's a great idea to donate some of the money to CBLDF! Jouni

Another vote for the donation idea. I like it. Erynn - I sympathize. All my characters keep saying "Wouldn't you really rather get some extra sleep? Or how about watching this movie? you should see some friends..." Jouni - I want a grumpy bat that looks like Neil eating a goldfish. If you can't find one, a drawing would be great, too.

Saw Spider-Man last night... won't do any spoilers, but I will say that the film was a LOT of fun and really, really worth the price of admission. So, I know that some critics are enjoying taking the piss out of it, but since when does that matter?
