the Country Bears because of Christopher Walken.

...or am I? *blush*

Dan - Excellent news! And when dealing with pesky assistants always
remember that sometimes it's necessary to pay homage to Lord Baksheesh
by gently greasing the wheels of commerce. To that end, Godiva just
came out with Mango Truffles. At $33/lb. it might not hurt to give it
a whirl. ;>

Also, why are you cheaper than James Spader?

So, all who asked, Dave Matthews rocked Camden down. Sold out show,
and performed *spectacularly*. Many, many crowd favorites. Finally
heard "Two-Step" live, which I'd been wanting, and "All Along the
Watchtower", and "Crush". It was the third time I've seen him, and the
second best of the three (April 10, First Union Center, Philadelphia.
That was simply transcendental).
Tomorrow night is John Mayer. I've an extra ticket I'm trying to pass
around at the moment. You'd think more people would be into seeing a
guy who got a four star review in Rolling Stone, and who really is
very, very good, but things just keep falling through. I'm hoping it
works out, though; my best friend's sister is in London today but will
be back early tomorrow, and I'm hoping to convince her to go (she
introduced me to John [his music. Not John himself], so she'll *want*
to go, at least, if she's anywhere near conscious). I can't wait to
talk to her, too; she's in London, at Oxford, studying *LOTR* in a
three-week intensive course.

Great day today, started with a phone call. See, my sister wanted to
go see Tool (she *loves* Maynard. She calls him her bitch. She isn't
given to crushes, but he's it). So I got us tickets to the Continental
Airlines Arena. They were $80 each, for second level. So I get a
call from the ticket guy today, and I'm think "Uh oh. Damn." I can't
let her down.
But it turns out that he bumped us up. We're now in the first level
rather than the second, at no extra cost. *ROCK*! (now if only I can
find somehow to get backstage; a friend of mine works up there, so I'm
gonna try him. For my sister? Anything).

And then my package from Dreamhaven came, complete with several of
your books, Neil, and yours too, Martha (*really* looking forward to
yours, Martha. Can't wait), and then *The Science of Discworld*. And
then the library called, and my other books are in, too. The only
downside was that I think the UK *Neverwhere* paperback I ordered
wasn't the one I wanted; it doesn't seem to have the second prologue,
so I'm thinking it's not the extra wordage one. Ah, well. What can
you do?

I finally saw *Amelie*, too, and thorougly enjoyed it. Didn't blow me
away like, say, *Moulin Rouge* or *The Matrix*, but it really, really
charmed me. It was more subtle, I think, in its workings, and the more
I think about it the more I realize how much I enjoyed it (it made me
tear up. The scene with the blind guy? Just killed me. Positively
made me love my entire life. Oh, and the arrow thing. Just lovely).

Dan- congrats on all the film stuff. That's *way* cool. A joke
between me and my friends is that he should legally change his name to
Christopher F***ing Walken (without the asterisks), because he's just
that cool (might hurt billing, but still). Loved him in *Illuminatus*
(which was filmed a block from my old apartment), and in *Suicide
Kings*, but went totally nuts when he danced in Fatboy Slim's "Weapon
of Choice" video. Instant classic, I thought. And your editor is Saar
Klein?  Dude, that's *awesome*!  He didn't just do *Bourne Identity*;
he did *Almost Famous* and *Thin Red Line*, too. What a resume.

Mary- Good luck with your fish.

Michelle- sorry to hear about the negative stuff, but glad things are
going better.

Christy- you know, I've never been a big Ethan Hawke fan, but I liked
the book, and he is pretty smart. And I had lunch with his
father-in-law once (through my college), who wrote a book about
Buddhism and who is *very* smart *and* very cool (*Inner Revolution*,
by Robert Thurman, in case anyone's interested in Buddhism and wants to
look it up).

Maure - Don't make me hose you down. Funny thing about Walken...
everyone thinks he's so creepy, but so many folks find him so sexy at
the same time.

Suzanne - I wish it was as easy as chocolate. It sounds like Waits is
as busy as Mr. Scary Trousers. Not that this is any surprise.. but it
would have been really fun to have him in a cameo. Of course, it might
still happen, but it'd be really under the wire since the film has to
be turned into the festivals by October.

Mary - Yay on fish! I vaguely remember having fish when I was very
young, but did have a goldfish that I won at a school carnival once. I
had him for a full day before he went and died on me.

*glug*

It's Martha's birthday tomorrow?
Martha - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! Next time I see you I'll throw a cake
at you... or something.

Adriana - I've heard the Walken/Country Bears thing too... but dammit,
just because he was in Joe Dirt and The Country Bears... he's STILL a
damn good actor!

Rocky - I've been told on several occasions that I look like James
Spader (although I've been getting Walken for the last few months,
which is an eerie coincidence). But Spader has reputation and I'm just
"another actor looking for work".

Will - My Amelie DVD came in the mail yesterday (along with my Real
Genius and Better Off Dead DVDs). Hell, just watching the behind the
scenes stuff made me tear up. I LOVE that movie.
And it may be Saar Klein. I honestly don't know his name. Names
without faces are really hard on me unless I see or hear them
frequently over a long period of time. I just know that he edited B.I.
and has done lots of work on lots of other films. The director listed a
few of them, but I was flirting with someone on the other line and was
just trying to get him off the phone. *grin*

Dan--
I was terribly unimpressed with the Real Genius DVD. Besides the
advantage of having a nice, clean, widescreen presentation, the utter
lack of any kind of bonus-y goodness left me very flat. Of course, in
six months they'll announce the Special Edition DVD which I'll then
complain about buying. :-)

Christy- I am sorry I missed you at the reading too! I was kinda
overWELLmed by all the nice people. (heehee-winces at bad pun)And yes-
I think that was me- the silly red-head on the floor with all the paper
drawing colorful pictures and laughing very loudly. ^_^ I was sitting
next to Will- hence the reason I am in this group. Will's quite the
enthusuastic salesman. And about the Bards- we have a band, but I am
not sure if they have a name..I will ask this weekend! Oh- I hope your
mom's ok! And I am glad you enjoyed the quote- that's one of my
favorites. Beautiful lyrics. Thanks for the Irish one (got a special
place for the Irish ones as that's me heritage!) Which brings me to:

Neil- Glad to hear Mr. Ellison has such good taste. (as if there was
any doubt)That actually reminds me of a book I'd like ot mention...if
you haven't heard of it: Mind Fields. It's basically a book of Jacek
Jerka's (sp?) really facinating and dream-like art. But for each
picture Harlan Ellison wrote a nifty little short story. And some are
very surreal. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it...makes a
great coffee table book- and is one of those in which the pictures can
be looked at over and over and you always find something new.

So what's on his answering machine now?

Mr. stagewalker man- thanks for the warm welcome! And good luck with
the movie! I am a little behind, so I don't know much about it...but
I'll catch up eventually. And best of luck with Cristopher! I've heard
that he's a blast to work with. Did anyone see him in Pennies from
Heaven? Odd movie (Bernadette Peters and Steve Martin) but he does an
incredible dance routine on a bar.

Mary- Yay for fish!!! I have a couple myself- Sam and Pippin. (I used
to have Frodo, but he died...)Hope they do well!

Will- glad you enjoyed Amelie, I've been saving most of the special
features for a rainy day, instead I just put the movie on for
background while I paint and stuff. The language is so beautiful...

Martha- Happy Un-Birthday then...until tomorrow. ^_~

Well- I have already been on far too long for someone who has to get
up at 5am to catch a bus into the middle of a 1583 style shire.
(luckily my copy of Dragon Waiting came today! which is doubly lucky
because I'm nearly done with There are Doors...which just keeps getting
more and more facinating... I am VERY excited to start.) And I keep
myself happy with the thought of real campfire s'mores
tomorrow...mmmmmmmm.... Incidentally-there will be no posts from the
Orange Faerie this weekend. (unless I decide I need to add something at
the crack of dawn...riiiiight.)SO I hope you all have a loverly two
days. And here's my Quote:
"When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it
is only that which has given you sorrow that is
giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see
that in truth you are weeping for that which has
been your delight."

Oooh..slipped by Kristina who quoted Kahlil Gibran..thankyouverymuch.

Will - We're leading parallel lives. I just finished watching
*Amelie* a few minutes ago and decided to stop by The Well before
retiring for the night. See? This is the crazy kind of synchronicity
I love about this universe. Oh, and I'm definitely feeling you
regarding that scene with the arrows.

Awhile back, I was lucky enough to attend a retreat hosted by NY Open
Center and Tibet House featuring Robert Thurman and Soygal Rinpoche.
The program was devoted to the rituals and symbolism behind Tibetan
Buddhism and also the concept of mindfulness. Awesome is one word that
comes to mind. And if anyone is interested in some of the retreats
they offer, you can check out www.opencenter.com.

Maure - I wouldn't exactly call Christopher Walken sexy, but he is
mesmerizing in a Bella 'look deeply into my eyes' Lagosi kind of way.
;>

Dan - You mean there's something chocolate can't cure? The horror! ;p

Bill - Yeah, the Better Off Dead DVD is the same way. But I'm glad to
have it in a clean widescreen version. Still, something... anything...
would have been nice. I actually like commentary tracks, and they seem
to be pretty easy to do. Just two hours out of the director or an
actor's time and then add it as an audio track.
It's probably harder than that, but as long as we're bitching...
*grin*
