Oops. Forgot Stagewalker. Here's my two-bit wish to break an
additional thing. (Not to be confused with breaking any Thingies.) ;-)

Just found out a friend is performing in THE WOMAN IN BLACK, in L.A.
Supposed to be perfectly Halloweeney. Ever heard of it?

Pam- I haven't heard of it! What is it? I want to see it!

um, and also, if anyone's going to be in LA on Halloween, The Endless
are playing in Hollywood if anyone's interested. Last year, people got
egged! you never know WHAT could happen!

Sitting here with everything crossed, praying for a good result from
the jury. I wonder if plaintiffs have a patron saint....;-)

Pamela--<<blinks>> Baryshnikov wandering about in
dancewear....<<blinks>> I'm not sure my constitution is strong enough
to have survived seeing that....but what a way to go.

Barrett--see Neil's journal at www.neilgaiman.com for news about the
next Neverwhere story (Squeee!)

Dodge--I, too, can attest that Neil is utterly delightful in person.
Definitely worth a trip to see him.

Speaking of which, I just ordered my tix for the Coraline reading on
the 24th. Yay! For those of you who want to order online (the
shipping & handling charge is as much as the ticket :-( ) the website
is www.chfestival.org .

OK, back to work....

Mary, got my tickets too. Mom wants to come hear the story too, but
she might end up going to my brother's game. The games kind of tie up
her Saturdays.

Dan, in general, Thursdays are good for me. I get off work at 2 or
so, because yeah, I start working at 5:30 am. :P So I may be a trifle
haggard.

The morning walk to work is gorgeous and spooky, though, and I love
that.

Red Dragon opens tomorrow. Anthony Hopkins!! New Danny Elfman score!!
Have to go see it!!

Well the karma fairies did a a good turn today and justice prevailed.
You've got to love it when they get it right. ;>

Dan Guy - True, but ICv2 did a damn good job with the coverage.

Erynn - Is one of your pupils larger than the other?

Mary - All I found was St. Yves the patron saint of lawyers.

Dodge - (1566) As Erynn already mentioned, Bowie's eyes are both blue.
One just has a very large pupil. Blame a fight when he was a kid -
nearly rendered him blind at the time.

Neil - Go you!

Right. And the main reason I meant to post in the first place:
See you in a couple of weeks or so. I'm off on a vacation to the boy's
home town. I get to <gulp> meet the parents. Wish me luck not laughing
at all the funny accents. :P

Yay! Three cheers for the jury! Go Neil!

*Now* I'm praying this doesn't go on for eternity in the appeals
process.

Squeaks--where's he from, that he has such a funny accent?

Maure--Debbie & I are probably going Saturday to a matinee in that
shopping center where we all went out for dinner for Debbie's birthday.
We'e seeing Tuxedo, too (now *there's* a double feature). Let us
know if you wanna go with. And next time I see you, we must talk film
scores. I've been getting waaay into Patrick Doyle & Shaun Davey
lately.

OK, crashing before I fall over.

I am *so* happy about the trial results (so far)!

Erynn - sorry to hear about the rejection letter. Feh.

Pamela - Yes! A friend of mine is going to be producing it later this
year, actually. I've never seen it, but am told it's freaky scary.

Squeaks - Now then, I'm sure you'll have a great time, don't ya know?

Chicagoians - Sounds like thursday night is the best general night for
most people, and possible for others. Now we gotta figure out what to
do... dinner, play, and drinks? A little traditional, but always a good
combination.

"Pinch" opened last night. Went well. A few sound glitches, but by and
large a good opening. It only gets better from here.

*checks eyes* Nope. My pupils are normal, i think. I wish I had David
Bowie eyes, though. Maybe he said that because I put a lot of money in
the jukebox and played all Bowie songs. He approached me because he saw
me do it and is a big fan. And like I said, we'd both had quite a bit
to drink. He also said I had a magical quality to me, like queen of the
fairies or something. But then...doesn't everyone look that way when
you're blitzed? Who knows....But if I hadn't have had a lot to drink I
wouldn't have had the nerve to say, "Hey, aren't you Prick?"
***

I love both of the Gyllenhaal's. I'm hoping to see Moonlight Mile this
weekend and THe Secretary the next. I'm excited about both.
***

Danw- Thanks. It was one of the only stories that I was kind of proud
of too. *cries* I don't know who to listen to. That's the hard part, I
think.
***

Blah. This weekend is the art walk. In a few hours I'll be waiting on
people who think they know everything about art saying, "Do you have
any mineral water?" and "are you SURE you don't have any mineral
water?" As if I'm lying just to torture them.

Dan Guy - James and Maggie rocked! You won't be disappointed.

Erynn - Great, now I'm humming, "She's got David Bowie eyes.." ;>

Oh, I forgot about "Moonlight Mile"...must go see! Jake is also in
"The Good Girl," but I'm not quite convinced that I should spend $10 to
see Jennifer Aniston. Anyone know if it's worth it?

Hi all, I don't have a lot of time before I leave for the weekend
(Homecoming!), but I wanted to get this in really quick. (A more inclusive
letter in my "Drafts" folder will have to wait until I get back.)

Neil -- Congratulations! You must feel such a sense of relief right now,
with this thing over with and in your favor, to boot. I'm so glad. Now --
get some sleep!

Big Hugs (in fact, I've been sending them your way all week),
Christy

P.S. I picked a very good time to get out of Maryland for a few days. That
sniper you've all likely been hearing about on the news? Right near my work.
One of the fatalities was right around the *corner*, in fact. And I had
wondered why the circling helicopter when I arrived yesterday....

Congratulations, Neil! Here's hoping it's really, truly, successfully
over soon.

Adriana, I'm thrilled that you want to see it... because I was going
to ask you! Actually, I'm hoping to make a Thingie Social Calendar
Moment out of it, with you (and Dave?), Walker and Mimi.. you want to
go see a creepy play with us? (It's in North Hollywood, not too far
for any of us to drive.)

Miss Mousey: They'll adore you; I'm positive. Hope you have lots of
fun, and get to see many embarrassing baby photos of your man.

Stagewalker: More congrats to give out! And I thought you might have
heard of it--it seemed fairly well-known, from the press release.

Many jealousies to those going to the Humanities Festival. But I'll
be at World Fantasy Con!

Neil, your blog mentions this reading of Chivalry at a Jewish Literary
Festival in DC, which is apparently included because you are an "acclaimed
British Jewish writer". (unless there's some other Neil who spells his
name Neal and writes stories with the same names, but I digress...)
This is the first I've seen mentioned that you're Jewish, and in fact
I thought I remembered blog entries about Christmas and whatnot.

So, how did these folks decide you're Jewish and are they making it up?
Just curious...

Right - I said I wasn't going to pay to access the internet on this
trip - but I had to stop in for this bizarre story:

I'm at my friend's house in Christchurch at a tea tasting and I
mention that the last time I went to NYC was to go to a Neil Gaiman
signing. My friend's brother's girlfriend so, oh really. Then after a
bit of talking she gave me a message:

First of all, congratulations Neil! Very happy for you. ^_^ Yay!

Tara and David: "Spirited Away" (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) does
rock!! ^_^ I was lucky enough to be in Tokyo when it came out... They
sell movie programs at the theatres, and the one for Sen was tasty. :9
Everybody should try to go see~!

One other thing, quite short notice, but: People in the LA area, I
just found out that the Reduced Shakespeare Company is touring with
their new play "The Reducers: All the Great Books (abridged)" and
they're playing at CalTech this coming Saturday (Oct 12th, 8pm). (See
http://www.reducedshakespeare.com/the_reducers.html ) I'm going to try
to get tickets tomorrow -- is anybody here vaguely interested? ^_^;

I just got around to reading my last issue of Wossname, a Terry
Pratchett newsletter, and found out that there's a charity prize draw
going on.

There's a theatre in Prague that's been running Wyrd Sisters for over
a year, and it was horribly damaged in the recent floods. The company
lost everything--costumes, props, etc. They're going to try to stay
together and perform elsewhere. Go check out the story and pictures
(it was a lovely old theatre) and buy a ticket or two! They're only
2.50 GBP.

The IMDB is listing Michael Chabon as the writer for the Spider-Man
sequel. I thought that was interesting. I'm very curious.

Mary, I'm sort of a ghost on the weekends -- right now, anyway -- I'm
pretty much never in Chicago, but I would have loved to have gone with
you. I was meant to go last night, but was railroaded to a casino
instead, where I wandered, disoriented and confused, until I found an
Addams Family machine. Its rules were incomprehensible to me, but I won
ten dollars somehow. I'm a huge fan of Patrick Doyle's Great
Expectations score. It's really pretty.
