Oh, cool, that's the one I saw live! (From the front row!) It was very entertaining. (I told Christina Pickles later that she was "the icing on the cake." She was amused, and I got the impression she had never heard that expression before(!).) Thanks, (hamilton)!

See, this is what I get for leaving NY! (not) I'm looking forward to hearing it. I've only recently (in the last year or so) been turned on to him and of course I'm hooked. I first heard him talking on the DVD of Neverwhere. I'm not much of a "fan" type person though, so I will go back to lurking and being excited for all of you "thingies". Y'all's cool!

hamilton--wellcome! Feel free to unlurk as often as you want. If there was a space/# of posts/babbling limit around here, I'd have been tossed out years ago ;-) Saw Himself last night. He looks a little tired, but not too bad. Then again, it is Day 4 of a brutal trek. Yes, they really did put him in a hotel downtown, which was essentially the 3rd point on a triangle (with the airport and the signing venue) that has sides around 40 miles long. In Chicago traffic (though, unfortunately, he was traveling those routes in the middle of the bloody night, so traffic wasn't as bad). I believe the phrase that pays is: Putting Neil in a downtown hotel for this signing tour seems like the work of a total idiot. And Neil--Sweetie, next time tell *me* you're hungry! I could have tried to organize food so you wouldn't have had to wait up when you got back to the hotel. The only "news" (to me, at least) was the nature of his next project with Marvel. He said it had been announced, but I hadn't heard it before, so until I find it somewhere else, I won't post it here. Ask him about it when you see him, though. And am I the only person whose blood ran cold at the words "*If* I ever do another signing tour...." on his blog? Mary (who probably has less than 20 pages to go on Oldest Living Confederate, etc., and probably still won't read it until AB is finished) P.S. DanGuy--Yay!! Congratulations! You rock! That is so cool. Have a great time!

Mary -- I knew that would make a good pseud! I was tempted to use it with the "What more could you ask for?" addendum. Yeah, I noticed that statement on his blog -- but I'm not surprised he'd feel that way while exhausted and starving. He probably ends each tour saying, "Never again!" ;P

Not to drop by after a million years, but, if anyone in this topic, here wants a promo postcard for my play running in San Francisco next month, e-mail your address to marthasoukup@yahoo.com and I will spend 23 cents and send you one. The former <stagewalker>, who's the producer, designed it and it's very nice....

the-roane-- thanks for the wellcome tinymonster-- well... I missed the interview. 7am ny time is way past my sacramento passing out time. I woke up just long enough to recognize his voice and passed out again. OH well. I've been reviewing my Neil acquaintance history and it really started with Dave Mckean's artwork on Mr. Punch. My in love falling happened with the recording of American Gods. This kind of cross genre writing is where my true fanship lies and I didn't know anyone was doing it. He became an instant hero. *Then* I started reading Sandman. And OMIGOD! I doubt that "Mirrormask" will actually show up in Sacramento long enough for me to see it in the theater... I may have to take a vacation day to find it. No waiting till the dvd for this one.

Am ok. Storm went east. Bad for Port Arthur and Beaumont. Did NOT get out of town though I tried. Got on Hwy 59 at 8am and at 4:30 pm was just to the Intercontinental Airport with only 1/4 tank gas left. My cat, poor baby, was panting and wouldn't drink. I was dying of the heat. You can't run your ac while sitting in traffic going 1 mile per hour in the heat because your car will overheat and it was 99 degrees at noon. Not kidding or exagerating any of this. Turned around and went home. Kitty much better shortly after being in AC. I was sunburned on my left shoulder and arm. Oh, and they told me there was NO gas in any gas station from Houston to Livingston - and I hadn't even gotten out of Houston proper! So, slept in my bathtub Friday night. Made a comfy bed. It was ok as long as I was in the fetal position but eventually tried to stretch my legs - up the side of the tile - very cold tile is. But no damage! No flooding. In my area of Houston. So, it turned out to be ok. Of course, I have an aunt who lives in Beaumont who isn't allowed to go back yet and several people are missing at work (we know where they are) and it's still hard to get gas here in Houston. Ah, well. Not enough gas to go to Austin. Darn!

Oh, yeah. That's where a lot of the evacuees went. If the storm had come in here, it's path would have been straight to Austin and, like Houston, in some places there it floods when you sneeze.

I'm looking at that picture of the BookFest line from the blog, and... http://www.dpsinfo.com/images/fan/other/050924neilsline.jpg Hey! Dan and Glen! That's YOU! On another note, is anyone else a wee bit disturbed that in the _Time_/Joss Whedon interview, Neil says "I'd love to stop my blog at this point"? Given what he's said about it (and other work) in the past, I still figured the only reason he's still doing it is because he's still enjoying it. Dude -- Don't continue a "chore" on *our* account (she said with a faint sense of embarrassment)! At any rate, it looks as though the Kepler's closing had one sort of positive effect; Neil seems to have an unexpected day off! Carpe diem, Neilster.
