For primates, the spools can be hung as swings, or to hide food in. For cats, the size that just fits in their mouth works best; they love to carry them around and rub on them; with or without scenting (e.g., animal feces). For hoofstock, the very large spools are used for them to push around; smaller spols can be used for goats and pigs to climb and push.
