I first met Dewey Balfa in 1978, when I visited his furniture store in Basile.
He came to Port Townsend many times, and these photos capture him really enjoying the moment. It must have been 2:00 AM, but time seemed to stand still.

Here you can see Paul, Jody, Karen, Dewey and Robert enjoying the music.

It's been a while since he passed away, but he made a lasting impression on me. I never met anyone with such a passion for his music and heritage. But he was also a most generous and warm person, even when a person like me dropped in without calling ahead.
