Graphing Data Using Spreadsheets
Goal/Objective:
To increase student's understanding of graphs and charts.
Sample
Description:
Kids type data from a math worksheet into a spreadsheet program, and graph
the data.
Materials:
-
Computers with Microsoft Works
-
A math worksheet with data that can be made into a simple bar or circle
graph.
Procedure:
-
Students complete a math worksheet in class, so they are familiar with
the data involved and what it means.
-
If you are working with 3rd graders, you may want to create a template,
so it is easier for them to know where to type the data in. Creating
a template is easy. Consult with the Technology
Resource Teacher for details.
-
Students sit down at a computer with the worksheet in hand.
-
See "Spreadsheets and Graphing:
A Simple How-To" for directions on how to open Microsoft Works, enter
data, graph and print it.
