• Cygwin is a Unix environment running on top of Windows. Cygwin comes complete with the XWindows System.

• Lesstif is the free software version of Motif widget library.
• DWM is my favorite Window Manager. Manual is one screenful long, code not much bigger, yet does everything I need!
• GTK+ is the Gimp Toolkit
  • GLADE is a GTK-based interface builder and code generator.
• Qt is an immense class library as if it were the JDK for C++.
  
• X3270 is an open source XWindows 3270 emulator with scripting and printing, etc. Great!

• TinyX allows small dedicated X-Windows devices.
• XToolkit on Solaris/Linux shows how to set the Java AWT Toolkit implementation for an applicatins.
