The Incredible Somis Wall of dope was this pot plantation
the cops found in Somis, California (near Camarillo, in Ventura County)
in 1991. It was planted outdoors, but in a deep valley between two
remote farms, so it could only be spotted from the air. It even sported
a sophisticated gravity-powered drip irrigation system. We got to
watch the fine officers of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department
chop down the eleven-foot-high budding stalks and remove them —
by helicopter. It was one of the first stories I covered as a full-time
news reporter. |
