Sitting in the back of the pub, the musicians in Máire's band sang the words from a never before heard lament, written for the people of Ireland in 1649, and sung to the music of the Irish fiddle and the Bodhrán drum, while on the stage the lament was echoed in the sound of Máire's harp.
