Kilmeadan was not a match for Cromwell's New Model Army,
and the castle was destroyed.
Denis Murphy writes that:
"Kilmeadan, on the Suir, was destroyed, and its owner, one of the le Poer family, seized
and hanged on a tree close by. His property,
extending from Kilmeadan to Tramore, was afterwards confiscated."
