The story began slowly with a theme of banishment. Just as the scene moved to a place called the Forest of Arden, she heard a rhythmic splashing sound and the hum of voices. At first she thought the noises were coming from the book. But that was not the case. From the lake, a canoe was entering the cove directly below her.
Under cover of the trees that surrounded her camping place, she moved quietly to the edge of the rocky shelf -- chosen because it was difficult to climb up to from the beach below. She watched, unseen, as a man and woman pulled the canoe onto the beach. Side by side, they opened a bottle of wine.
