Over the couch in this otherwise unremarkable room was a framed drawing of a man's shaving kit. It was unmistakenly my drawing.

"Jerry who is it?"

"I don't know Grandma."

The woman stood up. Stared at me. Her mouth open. "Dorothy?"

But I had already turned around. I don't remember going down the stairs, and I don't remember driving back to Oakland.
