Wanted Sid to see that I had been included in an art history text. But
something else in his letter was nagging at me. About my success. About
not feeling that I needed him anymore.
Something I'd never thought much about because Sid. Always so generous.
to all artists. To me particularly. Always rejoicing in other's success.
It had never occurred to me that my success had changed our relationship.
But looking at things from his point of view, there *had* been a change.
It used to be that it was always Sid who was noticed. Sid Seibelman.
"You know the Sid Seibelman Gallery." In those days I was with Sid.
But in the art world, in the past ten years it had been Sid who was with
me.
