The journey from her studio to school was about ten blocks. Due to the parking problem, in the Fall semester, before the rainy season set in, she usually walked to class. It was an easy walk for a woman who had hiked the 211 miles long John Muir Trail, but the ten-artist-books-loaded 1950's vintage cart she was pushing was heavy and difficult to push up the last hill that led to school.

Caydance was almost to the entry way to the school courtyard when she encountered a recent MFA grad on his way across the Bridge to Headlands, where, he told her, he was working on David Ireland's Rodeo Room restoration. They chatted briefly.

"Got to get to class", she said,

"Late to pick up some materials", he said.

studio icon Caydence took her hands off the cart to wave goodbye. Just as he disappeared into the courtyard, as if pushed by an invisible force, the cart took off down the hill.
