on a chair were the black lace shirt and the red flared thrift town skirt that Caydance had worn dancing at a Mission District club the night before. Her hair was still tied back with a black velvet scrunchie, and there was a half empty glass of wine on the oak table. The alarm had not gone off because she had not set it.
Somewhere in The Mission, Edelira was sleeping in with Juanjose.
Across the room, morning light illuminated the mysterious book object on the studio table. The artist was emerging, she sleepily remembered, as a male who was born in Massachusetts, but as a teenager, he had moved to Northern California with his family. His family may have lived in Berkeley; he may have gone to Berkeley High.
It was likely that subsequently he studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, known by its initials, SFAI.
