Sitting beside Edelira on a California September evening, Princeton, New Jersey-born and bred Caydance Skye O'Brien remembered the first weeks that they shared a Freshman dorm room on the huge, restless Cal campus.

Long before they moved to the Philippines, Edelira's Mother was born in Cuba, but Edelira was fresh from the American School in Manilla where her Father's business was located. She had the clearest complexion and the most beautiful long black hair that Caydance had ever seen. And her portion of the closet was filled with extraordinary silk, satin, and velvet dresses.

But Opera wasn't the reason she arrived at the Cal campus in 1973. Surprisingly, (Berkeley wasn't precisely beach culture), that was the Riviera's recording of "California Sun".
