Among other works nearing completion in the class studio, was an artists book in which two students had collaborated on an exploration of the school. One started in the back of the building; the other started in the front of the building. Stairways and maze-like pathways were followed/not-followed according to a plan. In a sketchbook, that had been cut in half and then reassembled, the images were snapshot glimpses through open doors. When they met, they photographed each other to create a central two-page spread. The book began from either side.

Caydance did not think they were a couple before they worked together on this project. But, it was now apparent that they were continuing to spend time with each other.

arrow Next week's theme of breaking the codex was heralded by a collection of miniature forbidden cartoon books, each handmade and housed in a doll house drawer -- and a tower of losing lottery tickets skewered on a sculpture of a desktop device. Some of the students were already breaking the codex, she observed, as she contemplated what work she would show the class on the Tuesday after the Washington Game.
