driving The game plan was to drive down to the beach house after breakfast, stop at a supermarket for the makings for half time hamburgers, go for a walk on the beach, watch the Raiders-Dolphins game. Around half time, maybe earlier, Jack would arrive in time for hamburgers. Griff and Jack's shared recollections of playing with Chris Bahr (Griff with the Raiders; Jack with the soccer team at Penn State) would be an unavoidable introduction to the second half of the Raiders-Dolphins game. After the game, they would open the BOWAK. In the early evening, Jack would leave to pick up Giselle at the airport, and Caydance and Griff would go out for a seafood dinner in Santa Cruz.

Caydance was not worried about class prep; she had it under control. Griff had tackled Law School reading in road trip intervals -- except for the return home when Coach Elway dominated the flight with strategic worry about the coming USC Game. But because Saturday night had not precisely centered on the game film, which Griff had to review before Monday morning, it would be best to stay at home instead of going out to dinner.

arrow "We could pick up a quiche, or something you would prefer, from my neighborhood French deli, put it in the cooler along with a bottle of champagne that is in my refrigerator, get some salad makings when we pick up the hamburger stuff, and stay at home with quiche, champagne, and game film."

"Quiche from a French deli, Champagne. Staying at home with game film. Perfect," Griff replied. "Let's go!".
