kruger O utside of the University Art Museum, Barbara Kruger’s gigantic “We don't need another hero" -- it's bannered words superimposed on a 1950's redolent image of a young girl with her finger on the flexed muscles of a young boy -- was mounted on the exterior. Caydance checked her backpack and walked into the "members only" opening party for Kruger’s Matrix exhibition.

A long table of California wines, bread and cheese, and vegetables and dips was set up between the bookstore and the balcony-like overlap to the main gallery below. She accepted a glass of white wine. Leaning on the rail that overlooked the main gallery, she looked down at the crowd.
