I stood with my back to the door of
Broadthrow's white Pontiac.

David laid the book down on the hood of his car.
"I've been driving for 3 days
I really wanted to see you," he said.
He walked towards me still talking.
"I've been waiting for you for hours.
I've got a picnic. Let's go to the beach."

"I don't know," I said. He had on old jeans and
looked like he hadn't shaved for several days.

"Please " he said.
