KERI was founded by Joe Quigley in 1979, at the dawning of the Knowledge Engineering Industry, for the purpose of being a repository for the knowledge bases and expert systems which he developed based upon his work in technology enabled organizational re-structuring and the design of sustainable organizational practices that are consistant with environmental considerations and human concerns.
His work began in 1963 with the IBM Corporation, as an employee member of the Advanced Administrative Systems (AAS) team which produced the "computerization" of IBM; through his being honored by IBM in 1966 for "service above and beyond the call of duty"; continued throughout his 28 year consulting career with IBM and his over 12 years of personal and professional collaborations with Dr. Allan L. Scherr.
His invention of the REASER Nuclear Reactor Environmental Monitoring System in the late 1970's; and his worldwide consulting practice with IBM's WorldWide Consulting Practices Group and Monsanto in the 1980's and 1990's have allowed for the establishment of KERI's unique Knowledge Engineering Repository.
