Gene Pearson, born in 1946 in St. Catherine, Jamaica, is a 1965 graduate of the Jamaica School of Art (Now the Edna Manley School for the Visual Arts). He taught at several high schools and the Jamaica School of Art; and exhibited widely in Jamaica and overseas including The Victoria and Albert Museum in London and UC Berkeley in Berkeley, California.

His work has been presented by successive Prime Ministers and others to various foreign dignitaries, Heads of States and celebrities including Leonid Breshnev of the Soviet Union, Prme Minister Phan Van Dong of Vietnam, President Lopez Portillo of Mexico, Mr. Taba Marouf, Vice President of Iraq, David Rockerfeller, President Nelson Mandella of South Africa, Ms. Roberta Flack, American Musician, Maya Angelou, renowned American Poet and Author, and President Bill Clinton of the U.S.A.

His work is presented in films such as "Trapper John M.D.", publications and leading corporate and private collections internationally including the private collections of Celebrities in California such as Mr. Stevie Wonder, Musician; Ms. Diahann Carrol, American Actress of "Dynasty"; Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger of "Terminator I & II"; Ms. Roxy Roker of "The Jeffersons"; Ms. Alice Walker, Author of the book and movie, "The Color Purple"; Ms. Madge Sinclair of "Trapper John M.D."; Ms. Tyne Daley of "Cagney & Lacey" and others. He has also completed commissions including Swept Away Hotel and Grand Lido Hotel. He was interviewed on television in the USA on Channel 44 San Francisco's Programme "Black Renaissance" for his 1991 and 1993 exhibitions in California. His work appears on the Jamaican $1.40 stamp released on 26th April 1993 depicting "Jamaica Ceramics" from the Hardingham Collection. Over the years his exhibitions have received critical acclaim.
