Guess 1: The Knowledge Economy

Sounds good, but

• Plenty of specific knowledge doesn’t get you far: Expertise on the poems of Cowper, up-to-date knowledge of astrophysics, even a mastery of the theory of marketing, doesn’t mean you’ll do well. More is needed.

• And also, extensive knowledge has always been needed to do just about anything, including 19th century sheep farming or tenth century moa hunting.
What’s new now?

“Well, we mean the type of knowledge that can be learned
from formal instruction, or from books, etc.”

I call that (or most of it) “transmissible knowledge,” that is, knowledge that can be passed on at a distance.
