On our second afternoon in Bend, we visit the High Desert Museum, which includes not only a large collection of Indian and pioneer artifacts housed inside the museum, but numerous outdoor exhibits, including a replica of an early 20th century logger's cabin, a log milling operation, and live animal displays.


A pair of bald eagles, each injured in separate accidents, are part of the collection of native birds on display.


This juvenile spotted owl and its sibling are the first two of their kind hatched in captivity. They will become part of a breeding program that may result in the reintroduction of spotted owls into the wild.
