Costa Rica birdwatching

The bird book we bought was inadequate and we were never able to identify this bird.

A tree full of parrots, sillhouetted against gray skies.

We saw this Resplendant Quetzal at the Monte Verde Cloudforest Reserve and were told it was a rare sighting. The nature guide who took us through the cloudforest used my camera in conjunction with her powerful telescope to get this shot, which doesn't really show the full glory of this spectacular bird.

Everybody's favorite: hummingbirds
