Sightseeing in Costa Rica, La Marina Wildlife Rescue

Left, a king vulture. Right, a crested caracara

A female Great Curassow. The male Currasow -- black bodied with a white belly and a bright yellow beak -- was caged. The female wandered the grounds scavanging through garbage cans. Her curly crest is natural, but the long brown tail she's supposed to have is missing.

A jaguar is housed in a makeshift cage built over the foundation of a small, abandoned one-room house. Note the built-in fireplace/stove in the corner behind the big cat.
