Utah, Spring 2010: The Wildlife

Even Utah's reptiles and bugs tend to avoid the heat of the day, preferring to stay tucked into shadowed, out-of-the-way places where they're hard to spot.

Lizards are an exception -- they can easily be spotted basking on sun-warmed rocks and doing the occasional set of lizard push-ups.

This tarantula at Zion National Park is lost, having wandered onto the agregate walkway in front of the visitors center instead of sticking to the lovely natural earthy spots nearby. Park visitors and even a couple rangers flock to take photos of this beautiful arachnid.

This beetle (perhaps a Green Fig Beetle) is seen skittering frantically over a large, carefully placed rock in the middle of a concreted observation area near the Temple of Sinewava falls.

Enough flora and fauna, let's see scenery!
