The summer sea breeze is back, and small boat facilities at the South Sailing Basin are at capacity and then some.

New docks and launch sites in the Eastshore State Park promise to relieve some of this crowding. But for this to happen, State Parks might have to re-think its policy of not supporting activities that "compete" with existing programs.

In the example pictured here, Cal Sailing Club and Cal Adventures, despite a large area of overlap in the services provided, have co-existed for many years to the mutual benefit of both programs. The public has been served well by having the choice.
