Activities like this hold the greatest promise for bringing affordable water-related recreation to the West Berkeley community.

Non-motorized boating also develops a strong environmental constituency for protection of the Bay and the shoreline. Yet the only opposition to facilities for kayaks, canoes and small sailboats in the Marina Plan has come from the Sierra Club.

The Marina Plan will be on the City Council agenda for June 24.
