Primary sailing instruction at the Cal Sailing Club. All of the sailing lessons, boat repair and management at CSC are by volunteers, working with a shoestring budget to keep member costs to the bare minimum.

Most cities with community sailing programs devote considerable resources to maintaining them, but here in Berkeley the Cal Sailing Club receives no direct subsidy. Instead, CSC faces a significant rent increase if Marina Staff recommendations go into effect. Continuing rent increases will force the club into a high-priced commercial sailing school model, if not end the viability of this public-serving non-profit cooperative entirely.
