When I painted buses in Colombia I had a lot of representational work. I got back to that in 1997. I call this one "After my walk along the Russian River." There are two kinds of California palm trees here in northern California. And there are more species of trees and birds here than in the rest of the country. If you go to Anza-Borrego State Park in southern California you will see even more types of palm trees.
I call it Ascension, a circle ascending (or descending, I suppose), acrylic, 22x30 in., 1993-97
I finally finished this in 1997 after several years of work, adding and subtracting. The current materials has more punch; it's more bold, more graphic.
This too is mixed media and acrylic. I've since cut this into two paintings. It was too much, so I cut out the white bar. 24x36 in., 1997
