My Mother's Baked Beans

Mama says:

Mix pork and beans, sugar, raw chopped onion, sorgham, ketchup and a little bit of mustard if it needs it. Ketchup is pretty much to taste but will give it a richer color. White onion is better than yellow; it won't be as strong. Mix them all together and pour into a baking dish. Lay strips of raw bacon over the top. Bake at 350 for "about an hour" or longer if bacon isn't done.

Easy to do day before except for bacon and bake the day of. Also can be done in a slow cooker instead of baking in oven. Just needs to cook longer. They won't overcook, they'll just keep getting thicker and thicker and thicker.

Serves as many as the pork and beans can says it does.
