  • DIVER: Who will dive the boat and when? If boat is dry sailed, then list logistics for getting boat in the water and too the crew pick up area.

CLASS/FLEET: List class if known, possible competition and definite competition.

FOOD: note food for race and include any special requests or crew that need special food

PRELIMINARY STRATEGY: Overall strategy for entire race or series. This may change on the water or between races, but this is the starting strategy. Share this with the crew.

CREW PLAN:notes on crew plan -- note any changes and why you may have made them For example, this was the note here before a J-35 race.

"Jabiru 10-man, attached. Crew plan is a framework. Before the race, I want each person to identify who the two-three most crucial other crew are that they work with and need to communicate with. Identify teams within the team.

Comments in BOLD are comments I want to hear -- or that other crew need to hear. Tactician is only person on boat to hail or make comments to other boats -- besides the driver or crew asked to hail.

Changes include moving Mike to main trimmer. Kyle will trim headsails upwind on both tacks, guy downwind. Kevin will trim chute. These guys will tail/trim on either tack, but I want the same headsail trimmer on both tacks, no switching off. Same with chute. The trimmer knows what's what with his own sail -- on both tacks. I think we can gain.

Some positions are a little different taking into account the great people we have there. Heli and Mike Butler will be running the front end. I think Mike will be able to help her in with problems. The Mid position (Sylvan) will be there to assist the bow team and especially Maria in Pit. The pit gets a little busy on mark roundings and sometimes an extra pair of hands can help."

POSTMORDEM: Include what worked, what didn't, top finishers, place of finish and notes on why you feel the boat did/did not do well. Include this in the file for reference for next year.
