We will arrive and leave in machines that defy sustainability and we'll use the word so often and so confidently that its ironies and ambiguity will go unnoticed.
We'll probably head home a little wiser, somewhat inspired, more articulate,and, just as powerless as when we came; powerless because sustainability cannot be realized in the absence of a dynamic, broad-based and appropriately militant environmental movement; a movement who's leaders realize the limits of lobbying, the hazards of compromise and the importance of strong grassroots support.
I do hope we will explore ways to rejuvenate the environmental movement.
