Concept, Business and Strategic planning.

Ports of Auckland deployed a strategy for release of land and water surplus to core business needs within its juridiction. The Port facillitated and encouraged redevelopment to meet the needs of the Port, the City of Auckland, port users, stakeholders, residents and vistors.

Activities included determining-
Appropriate mix of uses consistent with market demand, financial feasibility, and the principles of ecological sustainability and urban design.
Optimisation of spatial arrangements for marine and land based uses.
Minimising risk and maximising private sector participation.

The Port's strategy led to the complete revitalisation of the downtown waterfront. A major urban renewal process spurred by national success in the America's Cup.
