To Mr. McHugh, My name is Evelyn Rogers and I am blind. I have a seeing eye dog from Seeing Eye Inc., Morristown N.J. On March 4, 2013 we decided to check out the new business in the neighborhood. Before I continue, I would like to state that my dog and I have frequented many of the businesses along Adams Ave., from Park Ave. to Kensington. Also, I have been a resident of Normal Heights for almost twenty years. My dog and I have never had a major problem; with any of the businesses mentioned above. Once in a while, I have had to say; my dog is a guide dog. But, on Monday afternoon as we were starting to leave; your employee, Mr. Nino Nunzian approached us asking for, 1. documents and/or registration information on my dog. And 2. telling me that I had to sit outside on the patio, because of my dog. I quickly responded by telling him that my dog is a service dog, and I didn't have to provide documents and/or registration according to the law. Mr. Nunzian is absolutely in the wrong by asking. I continued, by telling Mr. Nunzian to get on a computer, and read the A.D.A. laws to get informed. Mr. Nunzian left for approximately ten to fifteen minutes After returning he attempted to ask me the two, and only questions that can be asked. By this time I was thoroughly upset.Mr. Nunzian. who has no legal justification, intentionally interfered with the use of a guide dog by intimidating me, the guide dog user. Which is also against the law. I asked Mr. Nunzian for a written apology. He responded by saying that I didn't need one. Again, I am requesting a written apology because Mr. Nunizan's behavior towards us was unappreciated. Otherwise, I can and will file an ADA complaint with the Dept. of Justice in Washington D.C. In conclusion, I strongly suggest that you educate your employees on the laws pertaining to handicapped people with service animals. Sincerely, Evelyn Rogers address: Evelyn Rogers 5045 1/2 Hawley Blvd. San Diego Ca. 92116
