Strange as it may seem, I was born in San Francisco on a cold (seemed cold at the time) day in December in 1970.
I went to grade school in Marin and lived in San Francisco, which is somewhat of a trick. For high school I moved to Marin and went to Marin Academy. (Hello all MA'ers out there!) When it came time for college I took a big turn and went off to California Maritime Academy and studied business. While at the Academy I also earned a Third Mate's Unlimited license (basically this license allows me to navigate the largest of ships any place in the world!)
Check out a scan of my licenses: USCG or BSA.
My life with computers started when I was in sixth grade and my mom bought her first computer; it was an IBM PC 128K. Not much, but it helped me raise my grade in English from a D to an A! I knew then that the computer would play a big part in my life!
I've worked for MacTemps in San Francisco doing all sorts of database and networking jobs. I am mostly a Mac person, specializing in hardware issues, networking, and database stuff, but I do dabble in IBM/Windoze market when someone needs help.
I used to work for The Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link (WELL) as a Customer Service Representitive. I was also a network tech and took care of the physical network and various phone systems The WeLL uses. In that job, I used lots of tools so you can have a peek at my tool belt. Check out The WeLL's Home page. If you need support, you can check out Support's Home Page.
Then I started woking for Farallon Communications (NASDAQ: FRLN) as systems engineer. Mostly I worked with VARs and ISPs to support the Netopia Internet Router. Its a totally cool product with a totally cool shape. Check it out!
Most recently I've accepted a job at Livingston Enterprises also as a systems engineer. I work out of the HQ in Pleasanton, CA. supporting the entire range of PortMaster products. If you haven't checked out the PortMaster 3 you really should!!
I look forward to meeting you all on-line and getting to know all of you much better... Other insights can be gained by looking at my bio on The WeLL. You might also want to finger me at my A/UX server: Josh's Tofu-Hut.
Josh!
P.S. What does TBW stand for anyway??? You want the answer? E-mail me!
