These plain text Western characters conflict with UTF-8 “”‘’¡¿—´·¸«»ˆ˜–‚„‹›€£¥¢©®§™†‡•…‰µ¶¤¦¬¯°º¹²³¨ª×÷±¼½¾ØøÁÉÍÓÚÝáéíóúýÄËÏÖÜŸäëïöüÀÈÌÒÙàèìòùÂÊÎÔÛâêîôûÃÑÕãñõÅåÆæßþÞÇçÐŒœƒðŠšŽž
They are translated by this tool into ASCII to create fully compatible posts.
It removes diacritical marks, and changes € £ into EUR GBP, ÷ into division, etc.

Most Unicode characters are not translated and become <?> However most of these can be posted and viewed on the WELL.
