Look what STEVE SILBERMAN said after seeing my show in Oakland September 6:

"I was impressed by the sound-worlds David created with loops and pedals.
 He's not just a one-man band, he's the future of singer-songwriting. Many

guy with a guitar that I've ever seen -- David Gans is the bastard child of
Hank Williams, Jackson Browne, and Robert Fripp!"

DAVID GANS BREAKS NEW GROUND AS ONE-MAN JAM BAND ON FALL "SOLO ELECTRIC" TOUR

"I was impressed by the sound-worlds David created with loops and
pedals. He's not just a one-man band, he's the future of
singer-songwriting. Many sections of the show were some of the most
exciting stuff emanating from one guy with a guitar that I've ever
seen." -- Steve Silberman, coauthor of Skeleton Key: A Dictionary for
Deadheads and a contributing editor of Wired Magazine.

OAKLAND, CA -- He's been called the bastard child of Bing Crosby and
Iris DeMent by some, and the bastard child of Hank Williams, Jackson
Browne and Robert Fripp by others.

Real or imagined lineage aside, Bay Area singer-songwriter-storyteller
DAVID GANS prefers to simply call himself a "One Man Jam Band." Having
mastered the art of playing with himself on stage over the past two
years, the neo-traditional folk-rock troubadour is mounting a "Solo
Electric" fall U.S. tour that kicks off Oct. 16 in Atlanta, where he
will open for Railroad Earth and be accompanied on dobro by Mark Van
Allen (Blueground Undergrass). The tour takes David from the South to
the Northwest and winds down in the Midwest, with three shows at two
different venues in Chicago, before ending in Madison, WI, in early
December.

From town to town, David will continue to greatly expand his ability
for self-expression on guitar by using an electronic looping device
that allows him to digitally stack up his guitar parts, creating
complex musical settings for guitar improvisations.

After several years of solo touring, the self-styled "Honky-Tonk
Hippie" is "reintegrating my electric and acoustic personalities. What
I do now allows me to play more sophisticated and danceable music
without having to carry an expensive band around," he jokes.

As important as the looping aspect has become to DAVID GANS'
performances, it will never dominate his sound. First and foremost, he
maintains he is primarily on stage "in service of the song," subtly
unfurling his guitar trickery to allow himself enough space to open up
and jam. More than ever, his on-stage persona invokes the influences
of longtime musical heroes Gram Parsons, Peter Rowan. "O Brother Where
Art Thou?" producer T Bone Burnett and Emmylou Harris.

The "solo electric" guise is the logical next step for the man whose
latest CD, SOLO ACOUSTIC (Perfectible Recordings), earned a 4-star
review from All Music Guide and made the WRNR-FM (Annapolis, MD)
"Roadtrippin'" Best of 2001 list.

"I've transcended the material from that album," says David. "All
those songs are in the repertoire, but they're getting a richer
treatment now. And I'm able to do more things in the jams between the
songs, with effects and loops."

It's just one more side to this multi-faceted Renaissance Man, who
earlier in 2002 simultaneously celebrated two other projects in
different mediums: POSTCARDS OF THE HANGING (Arista), a Gans-produced
compilation of Bob Dylan songs performed by the Grateful Dead (3 stars
in Rolling Stone), and CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEAD (Da Capo Press), the
newly expanded edition of his acclaimed 1991 interview book. David
continues to negotiate and actively consider future producing
projects.

But it's his skills as a wordsmith, singer and guitar player that have
made DAVID GANS one to watch. One of the most unique acts on the
current folk circuit, DAVID GANS is an essential part of a balanced
musical diet.

SOLO ACOUSTIC is available at Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and by mail from
Perfectible Recordings. 484 Lake Park Ave., #102, Oakland, CA 94610-2730.
