Len - ah, good. meanwhile, details of the lecture trickle out, like what time it is and the fact that tickets are not free, creating much less chaos on the 'how to get a ticket' front.

JaNell: Not The Purse! No, no! <runs and dives for cover> Id give it back, honest I would, but its attached, I swear. Ernie stole my heart completely at the vulnerable age of 4, when he sang the "L" song with Bert. When he sang "La-la-la-la Lumps in my oatmeal!" and Bert frowned at him, it was all over for me. I recognized my soulmate. Hugs to Len and Rocky and Will and anybody else still having to walk around with that great big hole in the soul of their city. Jenny: <Little fierce Irish fairy Pam lands lightly on Jennys shoulder, swaggers over toward the bad voice guy on her other shoulder, and belts him in the nose!> SHE DOES NOT SUCK!!! Dont you listen to him, girl. <green glitter fairy kiss on your cheek> DanGuy: Breaka! Many kudos to you, Neil, Martha and cast and crew. All: Is there a transcript of last nights chat? If there is, anybody know the link?

Oops. So sorry. Mixed up my Dans. Very indiscreet. Above should have been addressed to Dan Wilson. Random Memory: being roommate to a girl who was simultaneously dating three Jims, who didn't know about each other, and having to be VERY careful about how you answered the phone.

Pam: Last night's transcript should be available at the www.scifi.com/chat... eventually. I'd like to see it too, as, even if my name was up among the attendees, I was only able to access it for maybe a total of ten-fifteen minutes altogether... Kelly: But see, you actually got to ask a question... I'm thinking that it's just one of those crowd things I should avoid. Pam: But how convenient, in some situations... Oh, Jim!

E-mail from Alexx Kay: I'm trying to get the word out as quickly as I can, that the info linked to from Neil Gaiman's Journal web site about his 10/6 appearance has a pretty major error in it! The contact # listed at the bottom is that of some hapless MIT researcher, and *not* someone connected with the Lecture Series Committee. I'm trying to track down a real #, and will send more info as soon as I have it. Alexx Kay

DanFowlkes- Well soooorrryyy! :/ I never did say it was negative...I love him, of course. Actually, I think we had a discussion about him a while back, but I'm too lazy to read through all the posts to see exactly when. A lot of his stuff *was* about conspiricy theories, after all. Anyhoo... Len- I used to listen to _Fear of Music_ all the time. It used to cheer me up when people would call me "too out there" and such things. Actually I have most of everything that David Byrne has done. Amazing man, and a muse for me as well. DanW- It sounds like you're having so much fun! Break a leg as always and I'll send you a tape soon. JaNell- Yes, I read it and no I don't mind being quoted...I don't mind anything, so long someone pays attention to me (well, okay....I guess I do have a line somewhere)

Dan - Ooh, wish I could come see the show. I'll just picture it in my head instead, I don't like watching plays on tape. Except for the Wizard of Oz production in high school. We'd play that a lot for visitors to the band room. Well, the part where the munchkin threw up anyway. Kelly - But are you sure they don't believe in you? ::blinks:: Wow, that "I suck" comment produced more responses than I would have thought. For some reason it reminded me of a conversation two people had in my head not long ago. I think I'll hide it ahead just for the heck of it. Jen, who should do homework or go to bed.

on things french - and for the third time this week I got to talk to the French tourists and completely blanked on my 3 1/2 years of French when they started speaking to me in English. Really, when I tell them "D'accord, je vous comprends", you'd think they might have some faith that I could understand 'quelle artiste' they're looking for. sheesh. On creative influences/outlets - It all comes out in my music (though occasionally I've written short prose pieces that require a soundtrack of sorts). Unfortunately, I usually have to be stressed and depressed to write any... or at least very concerned... DanGuy - veni vidi vici? I haven't taken Latin since I nearly failed it somewhere around 1989... JaNell - I dunno, as much as I like the German language, I have yet to run into German tourists who need help in the store. For my GPA, I'm glad I took French. DanW (and everyone else going on Saturday) - something big and important <tm> has come up and I'll have to go another weekend. Is there an alternate weekend that everyone else not able to make this Saturday is going to be at? Pamela - Funny they should be named Jim. There is a similar problem with James's in my clubby little 'hood. There's "James" (a.k.a. Sir Bastard. This is the one Neil knows of). There's "the other James" (a.k.a. Fedora James). And there's "and also James" (a.k.a. Grease-monkey James, tho' I don't think he knows that I call him that yet...). Even better than that, there was a 4th James that this girl was dating (right after she dated 'and also James'). Now we just call him "the James that moved away". It's a veritable gang of Jameses. None of them go by Jim either. squeaks, who will never get her pages updated

E-mail from Margret: Pam- I really hate to shatter a childhood memory and ruin your soulmate image, but it was Bert who sang about lumps in his oatmeal. Ernie sang lovely, lilting L words like laughter, lullaby, and lollipop. Bert, hip dude that he is, sang about light bulbs, linoleum, and of course the aforementioned lumps. I hope this information doesn't cause an identity crisis. Margret (who knows way more kid stuff than is probably healthy)

No biggie, it's not like the fate of the world rode on the answer, well maybe in some other universe, but not mine. :) I'm off today, finally,......:sigh: 5 days, 10 hours a day,...well sometimes 8 and sometimes 12,...and I'm going comics shopping. Margret, you *have* kids, and work with kids, you are totally allowed t know these things. Will -- I remember about ten years I got a phone call that upset me a great deal. So I went into the garden, took an axe, and cut down a tree. It worked wonders. jaNell -- but Bunnies & Eggs are certainly appropriate for an Easter festival. (They just don't have anything to do with Christianity.) Len -- yay. Kelly -- problems with hauntings are so much worse if you don't believe in them. My house, which acts up on occasion, once terrified a house-sitter so much she fled in the middle of the night, by doing a bunch of bad horror-movie cliche'd stuff, like music boxes starting up by themselves and so forth. Pam -- "Jonathon Carrol's _The Wooden Sea_, Kelly Link's STH, Emma's _War for the Oaks_, our very own Martha's WALLS and Dunsany's KOED--all purchased within the past couple months." Let's see -- War For the Oaks was taken from a blurb I gave Emma's book BONE DANCE in 1988 (which is why it's so short); The Wooden Sea Blurb is taken from an Essay on Jonathan I did on his website in around 98, the Dunsany was written in 1997ish, WALLS I wrote the first half of the poem in 1992 and finished it whenever Martha told me to, and the Kelly Link blurb was written a few months ago, after she turned down my first suggestion ("Kelly Link is God") on the gorunds that her mother would not approve. So the blurbs were taken from a variety of sources over a 12 year period. It may feel like an inundation, but that's only because you have good taste & pick up the right kind of books. (Then again, publishers have started discovering that I was reviewing for the British Fantasy Society magazine in 1983-1986 -- and I must have written a few hundred reviews, and I've seen a couple of those turn up as Neil Gaiman "blurbs" recently. Sigh.) Abbe -- seeing that they've only just announced this one, and as far as I know haven't yet put up anything to advertise it, I'm sure you'll get in. Kelly -- I never said I thought she wasn't a girl. I said I thought that girl was a boy. JaNell: Okay. For the program booklet: Ahem. These are the things I remember most vividly about ConCat.... In no particular order: Signing a gnome Miss Tree and Reg -- two people who had come all the way from Australia... to Knoxville? (Me: "Good lord. You must be mad. I'm flattered of course, but you must be mad.") People in Orange. (Who were they? *Why* were they?) Sunshine's snakeskin pants. Sharing a room with Charles Vess, who *smiles* in the morning -- and means it. Signing things. Signing more things. Did I mention signing a large garden gnome? Or that the gnome turned up to every panel and reading I was on? Nice people. (I'll assume the gnome was a nice gnome.) The worst sushi restaurant in the world. I put it into American Gods, although the one we all went to was even worse than that. Sometimes I think my life since ConCat has been a dream, and that I shall wake up soon and find that I'm still sitting at that table, waiting for the cold miso soup to finally arrive. The friendliest Con committee in the world. And watching Rocky transmigrate across a glass-topped table when confronted with tentacles. Jinx -- it'll show up in the transcript, then, when they post it... i answered at more or less length.

Kelly - sounds pretty spooky... I tend to be a bit of a skeptic until I've exhausted rational explanations, but why else do you think the building would be acting that way? Pamela - back when I was in Seminary (Have I talked about that here? I can never remember...) there were three Dans in my Greek class. The professor would refer to us as First, Second, and Third Dan and occassionally declare one or the other of us uncanonical if we flubbed something. Martha - I'll noodge him. It's been insane at the theatre lately.. I spent all day yesterday animating cartoon tombstones to replace the faces for Wholesale. His days haven't been any less technically frustrating. But I'll try to get him to e-mail you ASAP. Linda - I don't think so, although I'll be sure to have information available about how to get copies from Dreamhaven. There will probably be a sign or a flyer. Erynn - having fun, feeling vaguely homicidal... it's all the same at this point.... Ok, off to nursemaid a friend who is getting wisdom teeth pulled and work on my animations for the show... they're ALMOST perfect. (Have I mentioned how glad I am I took the week off work?)
