Rick -- STARPORTS, which came out a year-plus ago. Also a fair
amount of backstage work on other books, though not being much of a
laissez-faire person I usually stay out of the economic arguments.
(Most of these people are intelligent and perfectly decent, and I
really don't believe thay actually -want- to live in a corporate-feudal
state, but they sure are in love with the idea.) There will
eventually be a worldbook (part of the series of 32-page books on
individual worlds) but it's backed up behind some other stuff at the
moment.

I've posted a bit over in the B.R. Myers topic, but had to get back
here, because they're all not as cool as you guys.

Man, I'm so jealous of you guys that got to see Tori and Neil. I was
going to get Tori tickets, but it sold out quickly in New York. D'oh!
On the plus side, though, a dear friend of mine got me a Tori poster
to hang up when I move back home, so that was cool.

Rick- don't worry about blank videos; I've got a couple. Just send me
your address and which ones you want (was it Unrepeatable and Definite
Article, I think?)... and on experts; when I was in college, my
friends called me a Font of Useless and Common Knowledge, because of
all the weird stuff I'd come up with. Of course, they didn't call me
*that*. I capitalized those letters for a reason.

Jo- welcome. Good to have you along. Some cider?

On names: I offer my top three choices.... "Barking Mad," "What was
this topic about again?", and "Who are these people and why won't they
go away?" A preference? Don't really have one. Of course, the way I
figure it, we could just use them in that order (what, this'll go on
that long, I'm sure. I mean, we filled an entire topic in 5 months
[that's gotta be some kind of Well record]).

Billbill- I'll take you up on that Tori tour book. I'll send my
address to you.

I'm glad you guys found what I said about writing so encouraging.
Your reactions really made my day.

Oh, and Erynn: "easier said than done", and generally, I realized I
lied a little when I said that if it doesn't come easy, it just doesn't
want to come.
After all, 'some days it don't come easy, and some days it don't come
hard, and some days it don't come at all and these are the days that
never end.' That's Meatloaf, and that's true.

OK, just rub it in. ToriBat sees Tori twice in one week; half the rest
of you have gone/are going to see her. Aaarrrgggh!
I've never seen her, and I've been a fan since "Little Earthquakes".
Actually have most of her albums, more than anyone else but Bowie...

Hey Will :)

Posted a wee bit on a couple of these topics, but not prolifically, as
I did it through email, and didn't really want to be a hassle. But
yeah, cider would be good ... I'll just go fetch a whiskey floater.

Oh yeah, I forgot. re Tim Tams, best bet is to start with regular if
you can get them. The other big faves seem to be dark chocolate and
double dipped (but less in the packet because the chocolate is
thicker). I love the chewy caramel, but that's just me ;)

I've never had Tim Tams, and now I'm all intrigued. Not $10 intrigued
yet, though.

Douglas and Neil -- Still no word back from AotW. I was pleased to
see that the nearly-black text on a black background problem has been
fixed, though.

speaking of which...
JaNell -- Did you see my crit on that blogger entry of yours last
week?

With the news that airfares were being drastically reduced by many
airlines, hope sprang anew that I might be able to make it to MadCon to
see Neil and Harlan and Peter David and....[stops himself before he
gets depressed]. Alas, airfare to WI is still too rich for my
newly-parental, recent home-buyer blood.

And if I've missed it somehow, I apologise.

Going back through just the last week or so here, I have to say, we
are all total freaks.

My votes for the new name?

1) Gaimanholics Psuedonymonous
2) "Well, you know my name is Ne~il, and I like to do writ~ings..."
3) Neil's Kids

With that last one we might even get our own telethon...

Went to see Adriana & Co. last night, and WOW!

They are *fabulous*, even when you're fighting the flu, are in work
hell, and it's way past your bedtime. We had the best time!

Adriana is a wicked songwriter; her lyrics are _stunning_, and the
music is smart and powerful. And lady, can she sing. She croons, she
wails, she sings it straight up. Her husband, Dave, does the quiet,
enigmatic lead guitarist with panache. And Chuck plays anything you
can plug in. Adriana is irresistable on stage. She's wry, she's
funny, she says "turn off that goddamn [cell] phone" like she means it,
and she's honest. And you have never *really* heard REM's "It's the
End of the World As We Know It" until you've heard Adriana sing it for
New York.

Also, she has great hair.

Her sister Victoria warmed up the house, and closed it down in a Jane
Sibberly duet with Adriana that left everybody silent for a full beat
when it was over. (The vocal talent obviously runs in the family.)
And Adriana sang a song dedicated to me (!) that made me suck in my
breath.

They've Got It, folks. Come and see her next time. Kevin and I are
huge fans, now.

Dianna, re: Chicago - You should definitely come see Chicago; it's a
great town, in a down-to-earth kinda way. (Perhaps not it's best in a
driving downpour, though.) Believe it or not, my Irish grandfather ran
an illegal "roadhouse" during Prohibition, and my uncles used to run
bootleg out from Bugs Moran's Irish mob in Chicago. Until the
Valentine's Day massacre.

JaNell: Funny!!! "Gaimanholics Pseudonymous" is brilliant. But I
think my votes have to go to the "Who are these people..." or "The
Barking Mad Hordes."

DanW: Great outfit! Glad to hear you got through the night intact.

Erynn: I read a great interview with the director of _Crouching
Tiger..._ in the LA Times, where he said something like: Our (Chinese)
society is really emotionally/sexually repressed, and so it expresses
itself in these really violent martial arts films. (totally
paraphrased). I think the same thing could be said about America. It
begs the same question you're asking: why is the latter more acceptable
than the other? It seems so screwed up.

Rick: Thanks much for the Roving Neil report.

DanGuy: Xander is beautiful. What an irresistable smile! Tell us
about the "meet and greet" with Tori!

Tree: Squishier Gumbles? Oh, my. Elaborate away. ‘Cause Tree in
"trouble" gets verrrry funny!

-Pam
Who remembers with sharp clarity the moment Neil looked up at her and
said: "Expound" with that rolling Brit "ow" sound with all those vowels
in it. Because she did the deer in the headlights thing, and the only
coherent thought she could form for a full 30 seconds was: "ohmigod,
he’s asking me a question, now what?"

JaNell -- Why? Because I don't have a blog.
     A URL to what?

Pamela -- Thanks! He's a cutie; this morning he woke Lori and up as
he loudly attempted to carry on a conversation with his blanket. I'm
looking forward to him achieving a mastery of English.
The m&g was nice. Everyone was rather well behaved, which was a
relief. People in the back of the crowd shouted the occasional bit of
praise and adoration up to her, all of which I agreed with save for
"You're a mother to us all" which made me vaguely uncomfortable, not
wanting to burden Tori with being remotely responsible for me. She
took everything in stride with a smile. An acapella group started
singing Tori songs back to her, which made her blush and she said
"That's enough of me for right now, I think." after a few songs. There
was an 8-year-old girl there whose birthday it was, and Tori was nice
to her. And then she went back inside. I, alas, did not get a chance
to speak with her or to get her to sign chapter six of _Stardust_. I
was happy enough to just be there, though.

Well, just when I think everything is okay...

I have to go and have emergency oral surgery. Yesterday I had two
wisdom teeth removed. I was putting it off due to lack of insurance.
OWwwwwwowwWW!

The drugs are nice and strong, but my cheek is rather chipmunky
looking!
