Just popping in quick to say that "Adventures in the Dream Trade" is available for pre-order. The link is www.nesfa.org/press/ They also still have copies of Mike's "From the End of the Twentieth Century" so shop around! (Yay! My very own copy of "A Little Scene to Monarchize"!) <<goes off, mumbling "I wonder where my brother has got off to...">> Mary (finished B.P. Fallon's "Far Away, So Close" last night & is now on "Sick Puppy" by Carl Hiassen)

I wound up as Deirdre, possibly because I have an aversion to weaponry and scheming to rule. I haven't seen the new G-A. I know there's a new Frank Miller book out. I hope he's treated more sympathetically there than in the old Dark Knight. Today I'm musing on Clurican. I typically make little songs about characters when they hit a certain resonance in me, combining tropes from different sources. Clurican, Clurican Guardian of the Mystic Way Soldier out of East L.A. To the tune of an old auto-lubricant commercial... I guess I strayed from the path. (All the way back home.) The soldier out of East L.A. is an old roommate of mine who's now a correctional counselor.

Oh good lord, I'm Brand. First Surreal Eddie. Now this. I'm obviously in a anarchic state of being this week. Welcome back, Linda! You too, Erynn. Great big beams of luck for your story! Lenny: That was cool. It has sort of a haiku-like hop. I just finished _Season of Mists_ the night before last.

Pamela: "I am the King now, and I want a sandwich" -- yup, yup, yup! Streak: It would appear that you are Bleys and I am Bleys and pnh is also Bleys. Pnh's comment on his weblog was something like "UH OH. I'm Bleys." Happy hiding-out, Neil! <---- whispered, so as not to distract Writer who is Probably Working On Something. The Eddie Izzard test beckons, but will have to wait for a day containing both good health and courage. Am considering doing a Dream-inspired piece of jewelry sometime....

The Top Five Reasons Eddie Izzard Should Play Hank Rearden in the ATLAS SHRUGGED Film: 5. Let's face it, only expert comics could play these characters, if that is in fact the word, without utterly self-destructing . . 4. . . . .and Walter Matthau's dead. 3. Joan Crawford shoulderpads. Enough said. 2. While Dagny wouldn't cry if Dr. Stadlen shackled her to a giant pentode tube and forced her to watch him burn dollar bills, Hank could allow just a teeny running of his mascara at moments of powerful, uh, moral certitude. 1. In the (noncanonical) last scene, Rearden would sit, alone, in a huge private Art Deco movie palace, watching his pristine 35mm print of "Some Like It Hot." At Joe E. Brown's last line, "Nobody's perfect," Rearden would throw his head back and fill the vast space with explosive laughter.

Am still alive. Will probably make the deadline I'm on, but fail to do any of the other things I'd hoped to get done at the same time. Blah. Did the Amber test, and, I am, it seems, Oberon. Fly back on thursday in time for Boskone. If you're there, be gentle with me.

I just found out the Bay Guardian did a review of the show with stagewalker's adaptation of my story in it. Seems my story is "chilly". I can live with that.

I've turned out to be Gerard. I really need to read the Amber books again. I was a really wee thing when I did read them, and I've forgotten most everything. annie, freezing half to death in the snow and ice, but very, _very_ happy that she now has money to spend on books. and food. can't read if you've died of hunger; attempting to turn pages with insubstantial hands would be a rather trying endeavor.

Martha - I think that the reviewer should have used the term "chilling" as opposed to "chilly",though... of course, I haven't seen it yet. by the way, I've finally had some Tim-Tams... quite nummy.

Nothing wrong with chilly. It's a tone. And the story is written with a deliberate distance to it, so I think that's what the reviewer meant--not having seen the adaptation.

I'm Shostakovich, too. He *is* one of my favorite composers, though. It just occurred to me that I forgot to wish you all a happy Imbolc, and so I will do so now. And a ......productive? meaningful? penitent? Ash Wednesday to all, and to all a good night. Memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris. M.

Sometimes we east coast residents get lucky, I guess. Travel = 25 or 30 minute drive to and from Boskone any of the days it's running that I want to go.
