I can't believe I failed to mention here that I think the name "Hoagy
Guitarmichael" is a BRILLIANT stroke.

Me too. Was that guitar player modeled after Michael Ross by any chance? I
always had the biggest crush on him.

All you need is Le funnel, a french product that helps you aim. If only
I'd had that on the Rock Bottom remainders tour, when we kept stopping the
bus so the guys could pee by the side of the road.

Hoagy Guitarmichael is indeed inspired by Michael Ross, now living in NY
and writing for music publications. He is the author of "getting great
guitar sounds" a book that is still in print after something like 15
years, and is starting a new band.

the next few weeks are going to be pretty busy, and I'll post the upcoming
events one more time.
If you can make it out to one of these events, I'd love to see you, and

Le Funelle, n'est-ce pas? I remember when it was introduced a while back.
Amusing concept.

They weren't French and they didn't help you aim, but they were indeed
amusing. They were like little coffee filters, only with a hole at the
bottom and made out of flimsier paper than a coffee filter. I bought a
box to decorate my cubicle (they were invented and marketed by the wife of
the owner of the company I worked for) but no one I knew, including me,
ever actually tried using 'em for pee-aiming purposes. A friend-of-a-
friend's attempt did not work out well.

The ads on the sides of buses said "Women! Stand Up For Cleanliness!"

All else aside (having bought the book last night and read/loved it
since), I think somebody deserves a round of applause for how pretty
it is. The colors. The paper. The various textures. It's physically
a much nicer book than most of the ones I've seen or bought lately,
and if this is what Chronicle Books does, good for them.

(though I admit I did disappear into the bookshelves during the chicken
dance-- maybe if I'd had some wine...)
