you know what my Great Moment in Home Organization On Television moment
is? watching the 2nd of two profiles of missy elliot on mtv's cribs. she
sleeps in a bed made out of an actual ferrari. she tells the camera she
liked the racecar bed little ricky shroeder slept in on Silver Spoons and
had a car customizer make her a similar one out of a ferrari. then she had
it outfitted so that when you push a button from inside the bed the trunk
opens and a giant flat-panel tv rises out, and you push another button and
the hood opens and a bunch of shelves rise up with row upon row of
sneakers rises up.

she's getting a Pacer bed. or a Gremlin bed. just as long as its not a
Pinto bed.

i do think, thanks to you, that i will explore teh world of underbed
storage for MYSELF. i think she may have to learn to love the world of
bunkbeds, but i'm not sure yet.

I'm sorry, but I want to *see* my CDs. They make me happy.

So I use a narrow end-tabley bookshelf thing that someone gave me for
free when I helped them move. The timing was such that I didn't have
to buy a CD tower -- or anything else!

Tupperware cake domes set atop the refrigerator. Actually, any big,
ugly storage piece set on the fridge top, as though no one sees it
there.
and
Fabric pouches for remotes, hung over sofa/chair arms. Of course, my
saying this is total hypocrisy, since--despite the many nifty
remote-storage ideas in Org Home--I live with a hideous little wicker,
3-tier THINGY that I guess was intended to hold mail or stationery.
Half falling out of it are three remotes, several pens, a big ugly card
listing the CDs in the automatic player, and a smaller ugly card
identifying the various TV channels. This hideousness is an
illustration of a famous Truth of Design: Spousal Stubborness Sometimes
Trumps Style.

Well, my extra toilet paper roll cover is yellow. I spray-painted a coffee
can yellow and then I used the hot- melt glue gun to attach a Pikachu head
to it (the pikachu head was from a sippy cup I got at the dollar store).
Then all I had to do is make some arms and feet and a tail; I made those
out of some felt from the craft store. I think it's kinda cute. But at
least one person needed it explained: "You're out of toilet paper!" "No
I'm not, just look under the big Pikachu that's on top of the toilet tank!"
Sheesh. Some people never notice the obvious.

But I have no idea how to expand this concept to the kleenex box, so the
kleenex box cover is still the pale purple one that Aunt Mildred made for
me years ago when I went off to college. It's nice and all, but a yellow
one would be better. Maybe I can spray paint it.

SHUT UP THAT IS FUNNY AND IRONIC YOU HUMORLESS FUCKS! I WANT ONE!

also a lucite toilet seat with flowers embedded in it.

i do have a little needlepoint box (the actual BOX is made of needlepoint,
i guess four screens stitched together with thick yarn and then somehow
there is a curved basket-like handle also needlepointed) in many hideous
colors, mostly red and pink, with giant CHAIs (chai as in teh hebrew word
for life, written in hebrew, not the tasty indian beverage) in silver
metallic thick yarn on each side. i keep bobby pins and rarely used
hairclips in it. it is vile, yet amuses me. so, um, fuck you some more.
