Yer welcome again, Jack.

BTW <slf> and <joyceincali> ... I picked up The Thorns CD and have
listened to it a couple of times. While there are indeed some vocal
harmony similarities between Mullins, Sweet & Droge and Crosby, Stills
& Nash, and a couple of the songs kinda have the feel of CSN, the album
does not *move* me. There's little *fire* and the instrumental
passages don't ever really leave the ground. To my ears, while pleasant
enough, I don't think The Thorns have "the stuff," as <digaman> would
say.

Probably why they didn't do so well.

Dave, I was on vacation from May 21-30, far from phone lines and missing this
conversation. I am now caught up, and I wanted to thank you for a great
interview! And for your kind words about "Conversations with the Dead" in
<199>, too!

My pleasure, and thank YOU, David, (and your fellow Inkwellians) for
the opportunity to be here to gab about my favorite musicians and
writers.

Just returned from four days on Long Beach Island (the NJ Shore),
where I spent many hours listening to CDs, including Garcia/Grisman,
PERRO, Todd Rundgren, Dylan '64, CSNY '70 and an old Cambridge, Mass.
radio station in-studio recording of Jackson Browne and David Blue
(a.k.a David Cohen), the latter opening for Crosby-Nash (with Neil
Young walk-on), the first time I saw them live (December 1973 at the SF
Civic). Strong memories (particularly the concert-opening "Deja Vu"
and a ferocious "Ohio," with NY and Don Felder on electric guitars)
still fresh after more than 30 years.
