Grrr...

National Book Festival is the same weekend as Homecoming up in PA.
I've been looking forward to it, as this year's a reunion year for one
of my favorite classes.

But I really do miss Neil.

-Christy's October is getting harder and harder to plan

Oh, Maddy's ten tomorrow,
And then we'll all be ten.
We'll all grow up tomorrow,
We'll all be ladies then.

She's ten indeed... she stayed overnight with a friend, and I'm
waiting for her to return.

The big difference between the library edition of Wolves and the
regular one is a) tougher binding and b) white end papers. I forget
whether it has a dustjacket or not.

And wine gums are a candy, sort of gummyish and acidic, with several
(fruit) flavours, and, in their classic form, in several shapes with
the names of alcoholic drinks on them.

Hi all (Been awhile eh?)

Just in case there's someone around who didn't understand tinymonsters
suggestion for me going...

It may have something to do with the following announcement

(a quote from Neil's journal)

...
Jouni Koponen is a Finnish illustrator. For fun and for experience, he
created an illustrated edition of my Lovecraftian tale "Shoggoth's Old
Peculiar". He painted the cover. He did a dozen or so creepily hilarious
scraperboard illustrations. He set the type and laid it all out. He sent me
a link to the website where he was working on it, and I showed it to Greg
Ketter at DreamHaven Books, and suggested that it might make a good
chapbook. Greg agreed enthusiastically, and Jouni blinked a lot..

The chapbook will come out, in a limited edition, in time for Fiddler's
Green. A hefty share of the book's profits will go to the CBLDF.

You can probably find out more over at DreamHaven's
slowly-being-redesigned-now-with-search-functions online neilgaiman.net
bookstore. And I just noticed that they now have the Michael Zulli cover to
the untitled next CD -- which I think will be called Speaking In Tongues --
up on their site.
...

Hmm... I was just wondering how the hell did he know about the blinking
part? Does he have a camera installed around here... somewhere? (looking
around suspiciously)

Well, anyhow... about the book. Please spread the word. Tell your friends
and relatives and your enemies too.

Cheerio

Jouni

(Hi, I used to lurk and occassionally post here back in 2001... I'm the
Webmistress over at the House of Clocks

Short version: I am unexpectedly going to Fiddler's Green... However,
I'm not sure I'll know anyone at all there! Is there anyone who's
going who has spare hotel room floorspace to donate to a slightly
impoverished con attendee? I don't bite, I promise. (well, unless
asked nicely...)

(Long version: Happened to chat with Neil at Martha Soukup's reading
at Worldcon, and he made a very strong case that I needed to be at
Fiddler's Green. And it's hard to say no when Himself thinks I should
be there, and should possibly put up a House of Clocks exhibit
somehwere. I mentioned this to my boss, and that I wasn't sure I
could go due to price of transit and accomodation... She said "You
have to go! I'll smack you if you don't go!" And this morning I came
in to work and her frequent flier promotional one-free-ticket
certificate is on my desk, and a note saying "give my regards to
Neil"... So now to find somewhere to stay...)

I promised Davey I'd register for the con as soon as I got home and I
haven't yet.

But I did alert her to my forthcoming donation of a copy of the Duran Duran
book to the CBLDF auction. (Assuming I haven't lost it.)

Hi!

I'm back in Chicago, school has started, and I will be here until next
summer, unfortunately. Or fortunately, when you consider that Himself
has rediscovered the way here, and will be at Humanities Festival in
November. Yay!

The trip was great, at least the part where I saw my mom & crocheted
Debbers a scarf. The part where I was driving 20 hours, by myself,
straight through, going & coming? Not so fab. Also the part where I
didn't get hired. But it's not me, it's my certification. CT offers a
1-year probational certification for people who are certified
elsewhere, but haven't taken the Praxis test. I applied for that so I
could move & then take Praxis after I got there. It would have worked,
too if it hadn't been for those darn rules about not hiring core
subject teachers with probational certification at Title I schools. Oy
gevalt.

Saw "Hero" in the theatre. Even better than the DVD, except for the
weird edit of the lake battle between Broken Sword and Nameless. Je ne
comprende pas. Go see it, anyway.

School has started, I'm exhausted.....yeah, everything's back to
normal. ;-)

Can't decide about Fiddler's Green. I shouldn't, but...........Maybe
I'll win the Lottery......

Johanna, Martha and Mary - You all need to go to Fiddler's Green and
you need to sign up to do it now... because I said so... and to make
Neil happier... and so I'll be right (when I told folks on committee
that of course we'd get enough people there to make it worth our
while), because it's nice to be right sometimes. :)

Martha - you *have* the DD book? heheheh... (<-- she laughs, secretly
wishing she owned it herself)

Glen - So you're a skirt wearer? (or possibly just a kilt sort of
guy?)

that she'd attended about 4 of those weddings)

I'll probably bring a few Utilikilts to wear to the con. Back when I
was hanging out with my Goth friends I wore a larger variety of
unbifurcated garments.

far, it looks like the only person at the con so far that I've met before

Yay! Johanna is going to FG! And don't feel too nervous, most of us
are harmless (except that Neil guy... he can talk you into doing just
about anything - you have to look out for him) :)

notshakespeare - Utilikilts rule. One of the guys in our Burning Man
camp has the only red one ever made. It's quite flashy. ... er, not in
that way... unless you're looking. And my boy has quite a pretty skirt
collection (some of which has been disappearing into my wardrobe) - I'm
all about unbifurcated thingummies.
