going to be exhausted!

Happy 44th Birthday, Neil!!!!!

Enjoy the Chicago Humanities Festival. (So the theme is "Time"... how
appropriate for spending a birthday there!) Have a wonderful day, and
don't forget to sleep!

My friend Dude from the Pgh signing just told me to wish you a Happy
Birthday, too. (He says he loved _Coraline_ and _Stardust_, BTW.)

And as of this writing, at least one other person over here
<pre.vue.9.441-> says the same thing.

Me too. If it had happened LAST year, I may have been deluded enough
to think I could afford the 300 bucks (including airfare, even if I
just crashed for free in a room).

Thank goodness there's *somebody* else who isn't going. You and I can
keep each other company. ;)

(Who needs us poor people there anyway? It's not like we can spend
thousands on auction items and make the CBLDF happy.)

-Christy was happy enough to spend the admission fee on her BRCA
membership renewal (http://www.blackrockcenter.org/); Neil's not the
only one with a pet cause <g>

It was really splendid to meet people at Fiddler's Green. Hugs all around,
and if you didn't get a Delirium fishie and you want one, send me an e-mail
at elise at lioness dot net, and I'll mail you one.

And I got to say "Good Mistress Mousey Accost" in person and everything! (I
have simple dreams, but they are strangely satisfying.) And Rocky is a
babe!

Oy vay.

Am utterly exhausted. It was faboo, and we raised almost $50,000.00
for the CBLDF.

I say "we", but I couldn't afford to bid on anything. It was pretty
pricey in that room. There was lots of beautiful stuff, though. Keep
an eye out for the stick puppets--they're supposed to be up on ebay,
and they are stunningly beautiful.

Neil dashed from signing to panel to signing, but he seemed to be
having a fine old time, so it was OK. Lorraine's band is fabulous, and
all the Wellies are astonishingly handsome folk. Charles Vess and
Jill Thompson dance beautifully, and Caitlin Kiernan and Karen Berger
are extremely cool, and Todd Klein really is a god.

Jouni? Jouni is so cool it's scary. And Shoggoth's Old Peculiar is
gorgeous. Go to http://www.neilgaiman.net/just-in.php#G1634 and order
your copy today! Jouni signed a whole bunch, but they'll go quick!

Squeaks had the coolest hair, period.

I would tell you more, but I got 2 hours of sleep last night, and I am
kinda tired <<Understatement of the Year>>

Oh, yeah, Mirrormask is hella cool.

And Anansi Boys is hilarious.

OK, I love you, bye-bye! M.

re: 284 - Damn, I wish I had known that earlier. I'd have told her in
person it was a really cool picture!

AAACK! Um, yeah. Brain not really altogether on yet. And once it is, I
have to go read Richard II. SO glad not to be running a convention
just this minute. It's giving me time to just sit back and say (cue
Cartman) "Sweet..."

So, in summary... wow. Thingies and WELL people kick ass and rule and
stuff. Aside from the occasional disparaging comment at not being able
to afford anything at the auction (and some of that coming from me), I
heard no complaints. This is a very good thing.

And of course Rocky is a babe! I would expect nothing less of her.

One of many highlights of the trip that I've just got to post here -
watching Davey turn into a giggly and embarrassed teenage schoolgirl
before my eyes after telling Neil that no, he may not be in the sexy
Davey photos. :)

I was very happy to be there this weekend. I am very happy I am very
close to my bed right now.

When I get my credit card bill for a rat and a picture of a guy
reading a book I may live to slightly regret my rash actions at
auctions - but only slightly.

Todd Klein hand colored one of his prints of Sandman, reading in the
library of books that have never been written.

Last night I was a bit brain dead, otherwise I would have mentioned
the people. I had a lot of fun meeting wellperns, (I don't think I
have any to add to Dan's list) as well as many people from around the
world. Saturday, I ended up hanging with Rocky all day long, pushing
Fiddler's Green merchandise on unsuspecting passerbys. Together, we
realized that Gaiman fans tend to be smaller and female instead of the
stereotypical huge guys (based on t-shirt sales).

Heh. Maybe Gaimandom will start to be unique among merch vendors, in
that they'll sell T-shirts that actually fit me!

How funny you ended up hanging around with someone you see at all the
East Coast gatherings anyway.

I hope a bunch of you hugged Jouni for me. :)

The photos are great! Thank you so much for posting that!

I wanted three more days (at least!) to hang out with people; as it was, I
wound up taking the path of exhaustion and going home before the dance
(which is another reason I am grateful to see the photos). Heck, a whole
month wouldn't have been enough time. Dan, I knew it was you, even if you
didn't technically introduce yourself. Mary, I still hope to have a cup of
tea with you some day, yes? When we're in the same part of the world, of
course. It would be good just to hang out and chat. Same for Rocky and Good
Mistress Mousey Accost and, oh, everybody.

Truly, it was a gathering of wonderful people. I'm so glad I got to attend,
and that it was such a success for the CBLDF. Amazing, amazing,
splendiferously good time, besides.

Now I am going to go look at the rest of the pictures.

*LOVE* the embarrassed Davey photo! Endearingly goofy, that.

Uh, and I am glad I am not near her while posting this, as she's a fierce
Davey, she is, and she might thwap me.

She does look great in her new boots. And Rocky with the Delirium boots-and-
box looks blissed. On our way out, we saw Fabulous modeling her Desire boots
in the parking garage, and she told us it was meant to be.

As for me, well, I think I will carry around a fishy in my pocket for a few
days, or weeks, or months, just to have a reminder of FG.
